Hi, our plans have changed again from a studio holiday to a full blown 1br holiday :teeth:
Can anyone suggest what items we would need for a 1br?
We are going to use a transfer service that includes a 30 minute stop at a supermarket. We will be coming from RPR at US to OKW. We have never driven in Orlando, so I have not been to the supermarkets before, apart from Goodings at Crossroads for very expensive Strongbow!
So now we have a kitchen, fridge freezer, washer dryer, proper plates and cutlery etc the world is our lobster
What things should I pack, washing tablets etc?
I know we have ages but I'm getting excited and want to do Disney stuff constantly. :goodvibes Ian and Lynn

I can't think that you would need anything different for a holiday in a studio or a 1 br apartment. There is usually coffee making suff around and some washing powder. Washing powder in the states is not like ours though so don't expect lots of suds. We just do a normal shop - breakfast stuff, snacks wine, milk, water etc. We also get small bottles of water which we refill from large containers to take in the parks - its very expensive to buy

Oh I'm sure lots of us understand this :goodvibes

We normally only have breakfast in the room, and we hire a car, so here's what we take:

Tea
Coffee - they provide only 2 packets, 1 decaf at that
Coffee filters - basket type
Washing tablets - they give you 1 small box and the supermarket packets seem huge so I take a few
A couple of J-cloths

BTW, they provide dishwasher powder

On arrival, we buy the usual stuff: milk, water, juices, other drinks, cereals, fruit and snacks.

I have read from people who like to cook on holiday, that they take small amounts of herbs and spices, salt, pepper and stuff like that, where you would only need small amounts.

Happy planning :)

You'll love a 1br!! but I don't think you'll do more cooking ;)

I'd get
- extra coffee (or tea if you're a tea person)
- some breakfast stuff (eating bf on the balcony is a great way to start the day) nice sticky pastries mmmmmmm
- snacks, for in the evening when you're watching the DVD you got from community hall
- you're favourite tipple, nothing like sitting on the balcony watching the world go by with a nice glass of something!
- bottled water (beats that yukky chlorine stuff). Get a couple of large bottles and a small one to carry.

And my top tip: a couple of packages of Kool aid! When you refill your water bottle, add a shake of this and you've got a much better drink than that chlorined water, if you're inclined use some sweetner depending on the flavour. The packages are small enough to go in your bag or pocket - just watch out on water rides or you might have flavourd b*ns!

The washer/dryer are huge so I find one wash per holiday is enough.

Thanks for the tips, I have already decided on a couple of lemons and some tonic for the old G&T's.( Gin bought duty free from Manchester airport) One of the things I have learned is to add a quarter of an effervescent multivitamin tablet to your water bottle for taste and a gentle body boost. Anyone know if I can take teabags into the States from the UK?

I'm always very cautious with bringing food in, having said that.. this time I will be bringing T-bags, coffee, small portions of jam (cause we always have half a jar left!) etc. I think they mainly look for fruit/veg, dairy & meat. Anything that is packaged shouldn't be a problem.

Last time we did a big shop at Publix; this time I am trying a different tactic.

We will be using GardenGrocer to have the heavy and bulky stuff delivered: water, milk, juice, beer, wine. The plan is then to go to Publix and pick up the rest, which for us means some breakfast stuff, some fruit and whatever else DH manages to sneak into the trolley when I'm not looking...

Of course we could have everything delivered, but DH and I actually enjoy food shopping in different countries - checking out the different selections and trying new things. Last time we discovered the most amazing clam soup... :goodvibes

Aha, caught you telling lies about me. I only sneak in essential items that we couldn't possibly do without. I'm sure we'll use some of them one day too :teeth:
