Grocery dilema with Magical Express?

We are heading down to SSR at the end of the month. We are a family of six. So the Magical Express program is definitely appealing to us. BUT, we typically use one of the towncar services (we get a van actually, not a towncar because of our size). We always use the grocery stop. If we were to use the Magical Express does anyone have any suggestions for groceries. Has anyone used Netgrocer or does any local supermarket deliver? Thanks!

I have used netgrocer in the past for our WDW trips, but we have had rental cars the last couple of years/trips. This year, however, we are using Magical Express, so I have placed an order through netgrocer once again. I was very pleased with them when I used them before, and ordering from them for this trip was a no brainer for me. I figure with the money saved on the rental car we can "afford" to buy our milk at the disney grocery even though I cringe at those prices. I may instead use the wegoshop service for the perishables. I am still undecided on that one though.

We used Magical Express tonight. I'd suggest either taking a cab to a grocery or renting a car for a day to go grocery shopping.

Enjoy!

Just back from WDW, we did not use Magical Express, not available yet on our arrival day.

I was told by a CM that if you did not like using Mears transport, you would probably not like the Magical Express. It will be the same as Mears, although free.

One family did use it and were staying at the Boardwalk. The driver delivered them to the front gate of Epcot and told them they need to walk through Epcot to get to their resort. Guess it caused quite a commodation on the bus. :rotfl: :rotfl: Glad I was not there.

We will continue to use the towncar service.

What was that driver thinking? Not even considering the hike that that walk would be, with luggage no less, they'd have to have admission passes to get into Epcot.

My thoughts exactly. The people we were talking to had never been to WDW before and if there were not veterans on the bus...... I don't know what would have happened.

There were people on the bus who had to help the driver get to BW. Luckily.

We did notice a lot of bus trainers this trip, much more than usual. (we go down twice a year).

I'm reluctant to praise www.wegoshop.com because I don't want them to get too busy! We used them last February and will use them again in November. We were very pleased. We stayed at BWV and got soda, beer, milk and juice at the Hess Minmart right at the entrance to BWV.

I'd recommend Hess mini mart too for perishables and canned soda. They have excellent prices and even Krispy Kreme donuts for less than $7 dz. We purchased a dozen for our Villa at BWV. The milk prices were good too.

Pop Century also has a nice selection and fair prices. You could always take the bus over there too.

The local Wegoshop franchise apparently has been swamped with orders for the upcoming Mother's Day weekend and will take no more (according to their website). Any other options seem reasonable as far as a grocery "service" is concerned? I was looking forward to using Wegoshop given the rave reviews on this and other sites but I guess I waited too close to my arrival date (5/8/05). Planning on using the Magical Express but that could change given that we've not received luggage tags and some posts have made the service sound less than stellar. Any help on the grocery problem would be greatly appeciated.

Thanks! I didn't even realize there was a hess mini mart there. There is always so much to learn here!

Family of six, huh? Ever consider renting a minivan? I used to travel via Mears and my wife recently tried the towncar option because she went with firends and doesn't like to drive. We can't handle not having a car. What does a family of six pay for transportation like that? You can great rates via National and Alamo. If it is too much for your length of visit, try renting and returning at the National at the car care center and picking up next to last day and return it at the airport. It is really nice to not have to rely on the buses all the time.

I have heard many folks speaking positively about wegoshop.

I would "second" the poster who suggested looking into renting a minivan. We have National's Emerald Club, and we are able to get a minivan at a decent rate most of the time. It is nice to have a car, especially if you want to go from hotel to hotel (for retaurants etc)...much easier than taking the bus to a park and then another bus to the hotel. Minivans can hold the average amount of luggage needed for 6 people...you may end up with a bag on your lap or under your feet, but we have always managed to squeeze it in!

There are also Hess mini-marts right near the BWV and right across the street from DTD, at the Marketplace end.
