We'll be stayng at ASMu 1/6-12 in a Family Suite. I want to have milk, juice, cereal, bread, sandwich stuff, etc. in the room to save on meals. How overpriced is stuff in the store at the food court? Would it be worth it to get some groceries delivered from say gardengrocer?

Yeah, groceries at Disney's resort shops are overpriced, but I don't think once you add up the fact that grocery delivery places are overpriced, too, delivery charges, and the tip that you really SHOULD give the bellhops for dealing with your groceries, I can't see how you come out ahead.

You can't really get milk delivered anyways, and if you could, you can't fit a gallon jug of milk in the teeny refrigerators Disney hotels provide you. (Only DVC studios have decent sized dorm fridges that fit much, and of course the one and two bedrooms have real full refrigerators.)

I say for the minimal things you listed, just go ahead and buy it from the resort shop.

You can get milk delivered. We ordered half gallons of organic milk last trip and it wasn't a whole lot more expensive than home. We ordered milk, oj, cereal, breakfast bars, and water and it was totally worth it. Garden Grocer was great.

ASMU = All Stars Music...

Def get the grocery delivery... I honestly didnt find the delivery prices much higher than reg grocery prices... just be careful, we ended up buying too much.

last Sept we were on the free dining plan and were 3 girls(40somethings) and my DD5.....we ordered 2 cases of water and drank em all........and ordered oreos, pretzels, chips, breakfast foods(cereal, milk 2 half gall containers which worked fine, donuts etc) oj soda and had a tuff time finishing all of it cuz the free DDP was so much food, I left the unopened stuff in the laundry room when we left for someone else to find:thumbsup2

We LOVED Garden Grocer,,loved them, used them 5x so far!:3dglasses

We have used garden grocer numerous times. We fiqure it is a lot cheaper than renting a car for the day even with the delivery charge and the extra prices. The bellhops store the food in the huge fridges they have and have never had any problem. Love them.

We use Wegoshop, and loved them. Great service, and they shop at the cheaper groceries (Publix and such), so you're paying normal grocery prices plus their reasonable delivery fee rather than the higher prices of GardenGrocer or Goodings.

Thanks for all the tips. And Thanks for the other options Colleen, I'll check those out too!

Does anyone know about getting a few beers to keep in the room for after the kids are asleep? Is there a place that we can get a couple sixpacks and or a bottle of wine or two without spending all of our extra cash?

Wegoshop will deliver groceries and booze. Just have your ID ready. They just charge the grocery store price and a delivery fee based on the dollar amount of your order. They also will use your coupons if you can get them to the shopper(haven't done that) We have used Marge from wegoshop for several trips and we have been very pleased. In fact, I just set up our delivery date and time for our Dec. trip last night.

Both gargengrocer and wegoshop will deliver alcoholic beverages but you must be in your room to accept the order yourself.
They cannot leave such beverages with the luggage dept. to hold for you.

Gardengrocer will give you a 2 hour window for delivery right to your room. I don't know what wegoshop's delivery rules are.
We usually have them deliver between 6pm and 8pm. Even if we go to the parks early before our room is ready I like to go back about that time anyway to get everything put away, then we go out for dinner.

Marge from wegoshop is great. She delivered our groceries on time w/nothing missing. She actually found some deals for us which I appreciate. She had to go to a different store then she normally shops to get my DD2 pamper diapers (can't use anything else) and didn't charge me extra for having to go to 2 stores. She was also very friendly and concerned w/the accuracy of our items. She did a great job. We paid by cc so Marge just delivered at her convenience anytime between 1 and 5. If we wanted to pay cash or have alcoholic drinks we would have to meet her in the lobby at an agreed upon time. We didn't know if our plane would be late or what we wanted to do when we arrived so I gave her my cc info and that was it.

As far as getting alcohol if you are staying at the Boardwalk area the cheapest thing to do is walk about 1/3 mile to the Hess station across the street. It is a short trip and we have done this for years. Much easier than having it delivered. We have also taken a cab there when staying at the Yatch and Beach club. It is much cheaper doing this than having a couple of beers at the restaurants. I don't know if they sell hard alcohol though we have only bought beer.

Thanks for the wego tip.... I was going to shop before and ship, but it was more expnsive to ship via ups than have it delivered! I LOVE this board!

Oh I'm so glad I checked this thread out. I just exchanged emails with Marge at wegoshop today for our upcoming trip in March. I usually lug the stuff down there myself and order the water to be delivered. But this time I really just want the stuff delivered to the resort!

Glad to see such positive reports on Marge!:cool1:
