We arriving via ME and stayin in a cabin. I was wondering how close a grocer would be to pick up a few items (hot dogs, buns, charcoal) and how easy is it to get a cab to them. Also, what is the ballpark cab fare for this jaunt?

TIA

You could go to gardengrocer.com and have them delivered right to you. They have a $10 delivery fee which is less than a cab ride and they have a wide variety of items. When you order they will ask you for a two hour time frame for your delivery. I have used them in the past and will use them next week on our trip. Very conveinent-check them out.

I only need a few items, and am not near their $50 minimum order, so Garden Grocer isn't an option, but thanks for the suggestion.

You could just go to the trading post to get them. That's what we do, if we're just getting a few things.

If you only need those few items, the trading posts at FW sell those things. It will be more expensive than at a grocery store but when you add in the cost of the taxi it is probably a wash. You can take a bus from your cabin to the trading posts or if you are renting a golf cart that would be easiest.

We ahve already reserved a golfcart, so that should not be a problem. I assume in addition to the charcoal, dogs and buns I could get marshmellows also?

TIA

Oh, yeah, all the things for s'mores! Actually, the Meadow's Trading Post is quite well stocked for camping.

Have fun!

Not sure of the distance but some folks talk of a publix market just up the road from WDW and I would think the cab fare wouldn't be too bad. At least you would have a wider variety to choose from.

However, since Ft. Wilderness is so deep inside Disney property, just taking the cab outside Disney property would wipe out any savings.

Now a cab from Downtown Disney to Publix or Goodings MIGHT be cheap enough to justify it. But if you are purchasing less than $50 worth, just going to Meadows Trading Post will get you what you need.

Also, right across the street from Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island bus stop is a Hess Mini Mart and gas station. They have great prices on bottled water, sodas, beer, etc. They might also have hotdogs, buns, charcoal, and marshmellows. It is easy to walk to and has a very good crosswalk.

Goodings prices are worse than anything I have ever seen at WDW on property. Avoid them like the plague!

Yes, Goodings is high. However, I usually walk down there at least once during my longer trips from Downtown Disney in order to get Mountain Dew ;)

It is the only place you can get Pepsi products without your own transportation.
