DH grew up eating grits prepared by his southern mom. Being a Chicagoland girl, I'd never had them, so we purchased some Quaker instant grits (probably doesn't even qualify as real grits, right?). Anyway, I put a few spritzes of spray butter on it and some honey (Am I getting worse?
). So, how do you make real grits? What do you put on them?

ACK!

Butter Salt and a little Pepper! I have NEVER put sugar or spray butter in my grits. Cheese is sometimes good, but not shredded cheese, the soft cheddar (i forgot the name of it) that comes in a package like sausage.
