We booked a room for Wednesday night just so we could get over to the Magic Kingdom for EMH in the morning and get a head start on the crowd we knew would show up for the Mansion. :thumbsup2

The Mansion has to be our favorite ride, it's a classic. And after missing it for four months we couldn't wait to ride again and see all the new enhancements. So we got up around 6:30am, got ready and headed over to the Magic Kingdom around 7:30am. We made it to the gates in time to see the last few minutes of the opening of the park and to make our way into the mad rush of people running down Main Street.

We are big fans of the Mansion (obviously) and pin, so we go GaGa over pins featuring the Haunted Mansion. There were to be 3 released today so we headed into the jewlery shop and happily were only 5th in line. We snagged our pins and then headed back down to the the entrance to lock them up in a locker and made our way back towards Liberty Square. The entrance was roped up and we were told it would be 9am before they opened so we headed to ride Peter Pan's Flight since we always skip this one on normal days as it's got crazy lines. We had a great "flight" and then noticed the building crowd near the old sky buckets tower so we joined in.

It was about 8:30am and it was thick already....and hot!

We were told the Mansion would open at 9am so we waited, excitement was growing. :yay: When the ropes fell at 9am, it was a madhouse. Everyone was heading right to the Mansion this morning. We ended up being the second group to enter the Stretching Portrait room after about a 10 minute wait.

All I can say is "WOW". Everyone looks so new, fresh and sounds GREAT! The Ghost Host voices seems to jump about the room and the room has great creeping and creaking sounds now. The wallpaper is new and the wood looks great as well. Like a brand new attraction.

As we left that room we noticed the portraits from the original first scene had been moved to the loading area. We jumped into our Doom Buggy, complete with new sound and headed into the Mansion.

The first scene now flickered with lightning and on our right there are now four new portraits that change in the light, very cool!

There are also a ton of flickering creepy eyes that match the famous wallpaper.

The endless hallway's suit of armour now moves and comes to life.

And there is the endless staircase with ghostly footprints and hanging candles.

Leota seems to effortless float in space and the instruments are brighter than ever.

The attic is incredible, the bride looks GREAT. All redone.

And the graveyard section is like new, brighter, sounds great, etc.

I won't go into a ton of detail as to not ruin the surprise but those are some of the highlights. See below for photos.

The Park looking down Main Street USA from the Castle...this was at 8:05am or so, already getting busy.

There was a handfull of Imagineers there to see the excitement. Including the Imagineer and author of the book The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies. (He's the guy watching the line, near the wait time post in the black shirt/jeans).

Wow, so cool!!! Glad you guys got enjoyed it.
We can't wait. 29 days!!!!

Okay so I don't like the haunted mansion....I am a big scaredy cat!;) When I was little I could be dragged on and would close my eyes for most of the ride and then it got to where I could sorta watch what was going on until one day at Disneyland about 20yrs ago there was a man in a suit of armour who was moving and swinging an ax at my head. Haven't really been back in since because it scared the dickens out of me:scared: .....please tell me they havn't resurrected him at MK?

Thanks for the review. All I can say is WOW...those crowds...makes me feel claustrophobic just looking at them!! :scared1:

The suit of armour is back up and moving but he comes no where near your Doom Buggy and it's not a sudden movement. I'm a chicken too, hated the pop-up grooms men in the attic (they are gone now) and it didn't bother me.

Do you think the crowds were because of the mansion reopening or are the crowds unusually big this year? I was there on 05 this time of year and it was a "ghost town".. haha.

Thanks for the review! I can't wait to see the changes!

Thanks for the update! We missed seeing it by a few weeks. Now we have to wait a few years!:sad1:

These are the type of crowds I've seen the last week of Sept! Be prepared, even tho its crowded, look how much fun the OP had!! Take it in stride!! :woohoo:

The lines for everything else ran about 30 minutes or so, a bit busy I thought since School was back in session. I'm going to MK tomorrow, I'll report back on the crowd levels for you.

Thanks for posting the report and pictures.

The HM is also my all-time favorite attraction. Can't wait to see it next year!

We just came back a few weeks ago and missed seeing this on our trip. Can't wait to see it next year. Thanks for the update and the pics. The pic of you both is nice. The shirts are cool!

Thanks for the details!
I originally planned to go to DW in late August. When I heard about the HM rehab, I changed the dates to the next most convenient time- February. So I am patiently waiting my turn to see it :) .

SO awesome!!! How cool that you got to be there for the reopening!!! I am SO SO excited to see it in December! It is my absolute favorite ride EVER, I can't wait! I've seen pictures, the new staircase room looks amazing!

HM is by far one of favorite rides. I can not wait until January to ride it! Thanks for the report!:goodvibes

Hi everyone :) Just wanted to put in my own little info about the newly re-vamped (get it?) Haunted Mansion. One of my favorite parts is the redone attic scene with the bride. In the attic you'll see a number of portraits of the bride with her ex husbands. Surrounding the portraits are wedding presents. If you look at the pictures and the presents, you'll realize the bride was going up in status each time she married. The first husband was a little poor, the next was a little wealthier and the next, so forth. Notice in the portraits that the bride starts off wearing one single strand of pearls but in the following pictures a strand of pearls has been added for each husband. Just something fun to look out for :)

Another fun part, when you first enter the mansion and you are waiting to enter the stretch rooms, look at the portrait above the fireplace. Watch the arm and you'll notice how the sleeve of the shirt pulls back slowly as the gentlemen ages. It's awesome :)

Happy haunting everyone!

Oh I love the Haunted Mansion!!! The new n' improved sounds great!!!!!
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
A quick question though, are those annoying turnisles still there or did they remove them, like when they redid Pirates?

Thanks!
