We are having family over this weekend to grill out, and I would like to grill corn on the cob. I consulted some cookbooks, but they all give different cooking times. Anyone knows how to grill corn? Do you take the husk off before you cook it? TIA :)

I hope someone can clarify this for you. I think we peeled the husk back took all the silk off. Then soaked the corn with the green part wraped around it. We soaked it for at least 2 hrs. and I'd say it took 20- 30 mins to cook but we turned it so it was evenly "roasted?". We also made melted butter with minced garlic and hot sauce for the corn. Everyone loved the butter sauce they were practically drinking it. You can adjust the heat by using as much or little hot sauce you want. But use some it adds dimension.

I peel the corn all the way and remove all the silk, then brush it with a little melted butter and salt it lightly and then wrap it well in aluminun foil. Then I just throw it on the hot grill while while everything else is cooking. Be sure to have the lid of the grill closed to help it heat more evenly and turn it over every 5 minutes or so. I think we usually leave it on the grill for about 20-30 minutes total? I never have really timed it. If I'm not sure if it's done, I'll grab an ear using a good hot pad and squeeze it slightly -- if it gives in to the pressure, it's done; if not, it goes back on the grill!

My family thinks this is the best corn they've ever had!

Well the weekend is past but maybe this helps for future reference.

We just yank whatever silk can be pulled out without peeling anything back. Soak it with the husk on for a bit. Last time I think it was all of 15 minutes - doesn't need much. And threw it on the grill. DH does the grilling but I think it took maybe 20 minutes? He puts it on the top rack.

When it is ready to eat roll in butter and if you're feeling adventurous a little grated parmesan cheese. Feeling really adventurous? Try a little hot sauce!
