Do any of you have grill pans? If so do you like them?

I love my grill pan! I have a large rectangular one that fits over two burners. We have a gas stove. I know that they cannot be used on those smooth ceramic cooktops.

What brand is yours? I have a gas surface unit.

Yes and I love using mine. Mine is cast iron though.

We have a grill pan that I use almost every night. It is cast iron from the Lodge company. They make one that comes pre-seasoned and ready to use. It fits over 2 burners of my electric stove and is the closest thing to outdoor grilling that one can have in a NYC apartment.

My brother and his wife gave me a Calphalon grill pan for Christmas.

How I love that thing! I swear it's one of the best gifts I've ever received.

Mine is round, I'd say around 12" in diameter. It's quite heavy. It has a non-stick surface and deep ridges that leave nice grill marks on the food.

No idea where they bought it or what it cost, but I swear they (or anyone else) could give me a nice piece of cookware like that every Christmas, and I'd be ecstatic!

The one that I'm looking at is by ALL-CLAD and it is the rectangular one it's about 20 inches long. It is very expensive $100. but I really think that I would get a great deal of use out of it.

We bought one last weekend because I kept seeing cooking shows where they used them. It fits over two burners (we have a gas stove). It is made of cast iron, one side is flat, one side is ridged. I haven't really used it yet, but plan to next weekend. We got it for $20 at sears.

I've got the Lodge also, and yes, that sucker is heavy! I did not know the proper care of cast iron and allowed it to sit on a towel to air dry. Well, the ridged side rusted before it dried. So, who can advise on getting rust off of cast iron? Will I have to re-season?

This is so true of any cookware that is designed to fit over two burners.

I am a Pampered Chef consultant and had a smooth-top stove in our old house. I was devastated when I learned that my griddle couldn't be used.

We moved, now I have a gas stove (never going back to electric!) and I can use it again! :Pinkbounc

I love my Grill Pan - it's a Le Creuset I bought off Amazon. I love Le Creuset cookware and have luckily aquired quite a few pieces. They're pricey, but you get a 100 year warranty too!

I really want one, I guess I'm just going to bite the bullet and spend the money.
