Greetings From the 10/9 Magic

I'm glad you are having a wonderful cruise! We thought Captain Tom was great. especially since we were on the Magic while Hurricane Frances was hitting the US, and at times, from day to day we didn't know when our cruise was going to end! Capt Tom did an excellent job of keeping us informed, AND keeping us safe!

I'm enjoying your live reports, check in when you can! :)

P.S. I know where New Brunswick is, I grew up in Sayreville :)

KAB407, hey I just got off the phone with DCL shore excursions booking for our sailing 11/20/04 and they told me they plan to sail to CG on the 11/06/04 Western. Everyone on these boards tend to think that the "Captains word" is the one to go by. If it's not too much trouble could you check for sure for all of us 11/06 and 11/20 cruisers..........Thanks in advance.

Some quick answers:

No Shark Tales. That's a Dreamworks film, I doubt that Disney would show it as a current release, especially after their dust-up with Jeffery Katzenburg. Looking forward to Ladder 42, however. It's only being shown on Friday night. Who needs to pack to go home anyway?

The Castaway Club gift was the usual beach towel and pins.

Costa Maya is kind of a yawn. I'm not much of a beach guy, and you can see all of the shops in the port area in less than an hour. My DW took a taxi into town to go to the beach there. I'll let you know what she thinks when she gets back.

Len.

Hi all.

I finally made my way to the Cove Cafe. What a little slice of heaven. Lourdes is a sweetie. If you are looking to hide from the family and friends, this is it.

We also went to the beach today. Beach was great, so were the $2 beers :) Reminds me of Cancun 20 years ago. The only thing that turned me off were the vendors. I'm not into the hard sell kinda thing. The Costa Maya village is nice. The kids had a nice time in the pool once we got back from the beach. If it weren't for the beach, I'd be back on the boat in about 45 minutes like Len though.

We're scheduled to leave here at 6PM. Cozumel is approx 1 nautical mile from here. I can't fingure out why it takes so long to get there!

It's off to the early show of Hercules and then dinner at Palo!

Lampskies, I'll see what I can find out for you. I tend to take the word of the man steering boat.

SeaSpray, if I told you my last name, you would probably know half of my relatives.

Off to watch the Magic leave. Some of the coolest stuff onboard are docking and leaving. Take the time to watch.

Kathy

Kathy, I just showed lourdes your message and she's blushing.

I actually enjoyed Costa Maya quite a bit. We went horseback riding and then spent some time at Tequila beach. Its an extremely rural and impoverished town, but if the cruise port works out, it looks like it might make things a lot better.

Its definitely nice to see how they are trying to do things right. Its only existed for 3 years.

I live pretty exclusively at the Cove Cafe internet when I'm on. Its worth it. Its quiet and the coffee is good.

The castaway club gift was a towel and two pins.

BTW, if any of the DISaster people read this and want to see a Cat 3 Suite, feel free to stop by. I'm in 8078. Ring the bell :)

Anyway, I've got Palo awaiting me in an hour, I've got to go get ready.

kab.........

Thanks for all the great info...............

One more question for you.......................Can you tell me the days that they are letting you book a Palo Brunch on this cruise?

Thanks!!!!
Fran

Sorry, Sharks Tale is not playing. If it's not Disney, it does not exist on this ship.

Disney has definitely shown non-Disney movies on the ship in the past. On prior cruises, I recall seeing a Harry Potter movie and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

I have not, however, ever noticed a first-run non-Disney movie on the ship.

I really enjoy the live reports from the ship; it makes me even more anxious to be cruising myself!! I keep telling myself that part of the fun of going on a cruise is the anticipation---but I am so impatient. January seems so far away:sad2: .

I am glad you are having a good time. Hope the weather is excellent for the remainder of the week.

Actually Cozumel is more like 90 miles away. They just haven't updated the "Report from the Bridge" channel. But you're right it isn't that far. That's why we're only doing about 7.5 knots vs. the max speed of 24 knots.

I noticed that they slowed down last night too. We must have been ahead of schedule for Costa Maya.

Wow lucky you !!! :wave2: , How are the people in the next cabin over?

Anyway just wanted to put some of my own personal thoughts about some things I have noticed.... The entire staff is nothing less than superb... They will go great lenghts to keep everyone happy.

Boy was the cruise terminal hot hot hot on Saturday!

Has anyone on board noticed a considerable difference in tempeature different areas of the ship? Some stateroom hallways are extremly hot, others are very cold... Some eleveator lobbys are cold others hot --- it's one extrem or the other. Is this just me have others noticed it as well?

Second... the on board actiivies seem to be missing. There are scheduled acitviies during the day at sea and a few before and after our stops at KW and CM, but nothing really scheduled during the port. I understand that many people will get off the ship, but others that want to stay on do not have a lot to do in terms of structured activities.

Was off in Costa Maya and not overly impressed. They were EXTREMLY pushey. A frequent quote from the next shop over..."it's my turn" as you walk out of the other shop. Did not go any further than the shops within walking distance from the pier.

Please excuse the spelling in this post - no spell check, and it's been a long day!

Enjoying the reports as my DD and SIL are on with you also. Sounds like a good time so far.

Greeting from Pirates Night!

Let's step back. Dinner at Palo last night. There were eight of us so we got the private room. Khristian was our server. Very simply said, the food was super. Kristian had to be one of the best waiters I have ever encountered. He was extremely attentive, explained the dishes in great details and made some outstanding suggestions. He also tells great jokes! If you are on the Magic, do it. It is well worth it. Plan on a long evening, don"t eat much during the day and just enjoy. Oh yea, the chocolate souflee (sp?) is to die for!

Today the Magic along with, 3 Carnival ships, a Celebrity and a RC were all in Cozumel. It was a little bit crowded here. The day started out rather overcast. We did the Dune Buggy tour which we booked on our own. We ended up in a downpour on our way to the other side of the island. The tour its self was fun. We made our way through the beach, brush and past some Mayan Ruins. The roads on the other side of the island are packed sand or coral with extremely large water hazards! The only complaint I have was with this one Jeep in front of the group. Every single puddle of water they went through, they kept stalling out. Slowed down the whole group. (All I can say is, thank God the monorails at WDW are NOT stick shift! :p And to think, all it took were nailclippers to get that Jeep back running.)

The last time I was in Cozumel was 17 years ago when the only people who came here were scuba divers and Carlos & Charlies was a dump of a bar. I was blown away by how much it has changed in that time. It's really lost the charm that I remember.

Tonight was Pirate Night. The Wait Teams were dressed in the theme. The were specially printed menus for the evening and in Parrot Cay we got bandanas. There is no live show this evening. They're showing Ladder 49 with a deck party when we leave port.

Tomorrow is a sea day and Friday is Castaway.

I've asked the folks at the Guest Desk and they are saying that the earliest they expect to retrun to Grand Cayman is Dec/Jan. They tend to think Jan is more realistic.

Brunch on the Western is Sun, Mon and Thur.

Thanks for the correction Len. I knew it was a bit farther the 1 nm. It did seem as if we slowed down. It was a rather nice sunrise this morning. We also saw a few dolphins on the starboard side this morning during our sail in.

Yes Que is on board and he is the BINGO-meister!

There does seem to be a rather large temp difference on the ship. We are using the Deck 6 Aft Elevators. They feel like a sauna most of the time.

I need another cup of coffee.

May I ask what movies are playing aboard? Especially the one that is showing in the Walt Disney Theater... Thanks!

They are showing Ladder 49 as I type.

Also playing:
Mr. 3000
The Alamo
Princess Diaries 2
The Village
Home On THe Range
Teenage Drama Queen

that's all that I remember off the top of my head.

Just a note to you ball fans, they are showing the playoffs in Diversions

Just wanted to keep up with everyone. Cozumel today was great. We walked around the shops a bit and headed back to port. We had the Kayaking booked but the weather wasn't looking very good.

I liked the pirate theme tongiht, however the food was subpar, however the food for all the days up until now have been wonderful. Palo tom. at 6 will be great the 8:30 seating is rather late.

There was just a Bright Star called to a cabin on deck 8 - aft. Took a look before coming down here and a lot of medical equimment and lots of people running. Hope everyone is ok, thoughts are with them ::yes:: ::yes::

Castaway Cay is a Go for friday!

Thanks for the live reports and glad to see you guys are having such a great time.

The next time someone is in Cove Cafe could you ask Lourdes if she will still be there for the 10 day Christmas cruise(2004). We met her on the ship in April and she was a doll and it would be wonderful to see her again. I can't remember his name but her DH was working in Sessions at the time and we met him too. Please tell her Hi from Richard and LeiLani Naylor. She probably won't remember us but just tell her our favorite drink is Louis VIII cognac. If she is still going to be there we will stop in and see her in December.

Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your cruise.
