Looking at Father's Day cards ... eeeh! $4.00 a pop for a card? Crazy!

Post your general (not just Father's Day) savings links and ideas here.

I'll start. WalMart has 44 cent and 88 cent cards. Quality is fair to good. I've stocked up on the general ones so I can just grab one and save a trip to store (Get Well, Thank You, Congrats, Wedding, Baby, Birthday, etc.)

Target has $1 cards now, and I find them to be of better overall quality vs. the WalMart ones. They really look and feel like the $4 and up ones, IMO.

Dollar Stores often have 2 for $1 cards. Quality is usually poor to only OK.

I always stock up on the Dollar Store cards for birthdays, thanks, get well, and weddings. At 2 for $1 for something that's most likely going to get thrown away, you can't beat it. Some of them are awful though! Factory Card Outlet is ok, but the store near us doesn't put the envelopes with some of the cards so you have to ask for them. Weird! I also don't care for the large print they use to fill up the page.

I usually buy the immediate family and my DH and DSs cards from Hallmark. I used to work there and I love the GCC rewards. Free program, free points, free cards. It always makes me laugh when people say that Hallmark is so expensive when they carry nicer cards for less than Target and Walmart.

I just bought a Father's Day card at the Dollar Tree. (2/1.00) What bargain!:thumbsup2

I'm ordered personalized father's day cards from Hallmark.com--they have pictures and are GREAT quality and less than stores (I think like $3.50)

My DD is my card maker. She loves making cards for people so I let her. Its a win-win. They get a DD original, one-of-a-kind card & I save money!! I've also made cards on my computer before. There are lots of simple programs & cardstock can be cheap.

Dollar General has discounted greeting cards. I just bought a Father's day card for 50¢. The quality is good enough for a card that will be thrown in the trash on Monday.

I always get my cards at Hallmark (not just because I work there). I find the quality to be better than most other places. There is an entire section of 99 cent cards and a brand new section of 49 cent cards. I also agree with what a someone else said about their Gold Crown Card. The points really add up quickly.

Both Hallmark and American Greetings have a pretty good selection of $0.99 cards. I almost always find something I like from those.

If you belong to BJs, their cards are always 1/2 off. Which saves money. They are cards starting at .99 so only .49. Very good quality..

Man-o-day .. on these boards I keep seeing great things about BJ's and Costco. We have Sam's in my area, which I am a member of but miss out on a lot of perks at the others. No greeting cards at Sam's .... no coupons accepted at Sam's.... not the same super-generous return policy at Sam's.... etc.

As others have stated, Hallmark has some really nice cards for 99 cents. And because I live in the town where Hallmark's main corporate office is located, I do feel hometown loyalty. Plus, with all the on-line e-cards, etc., etc., Hallmark is hurting -- they've had to lay off several hundreds of employees within the last few months. Not that other companies haven't had to do the same -- but the hometown loyalty is a big factor for me. And Hallmark has always been "When you care enough to send the very best" to me.

I will stock up on 99 cent cards (kids birthdays, get well, co-workers birthdays, etc.). But for my own family, I don't mind the extra expense. And my 78-year-old Dad has saved every single card we have ever given him -- And over the years, that's been a lot of cards. :)

And the Gold Crown Reward points are a nice touch, too. :wizard:

Trader Joe's has some nice quality - if limited selection - of $1 cards. Great for blanks or generic birthdays. They are kept near the fruit leather.
