So here is my story! I arrived at Alamo’s Ft Lauderdale Airport branch. I had pre-checked in so went right to the garage and was directed to the full size vehicle isle. There were a number of vehicles to choose from but only one I could find that had Bluetooth. I drove to the checkout booth were I met Pierline. In checking over the vehicle with Pierline I noticed the left rear quarter panel was loose. Pierline had me back it up and park it and pick another vehicle. I couldn’t find another with Bluetooth. Another Alamo gentleman was walking by and asked if I needed help. I showed him the first vehicle damage. He told me he couldn’t do anything about the available vehicles to choose from. He left but while still looking at vehicles I noticed another guy get in the damaged vehicle and drive off headed further into the garage area not towards the exit booths. So I finally picked a vehicle and drove back to Pierline’s booth. Only then did I realize I had left my wallet on the center console in the damaged vehicle. Pierline could see I was in panic mode. Pierline did her best to calm me down meanwhile getting on her radio and making calls. After what seemed like a lifetime but was actually five minutes or so another Alamo gentleman came walking to the booth with my wallet. Pierline then had me get an upgraded vehicle that had Bluetooth. So if you happen to be going through Alamo at Ft Lauderdale airport and you see Pierline at the checkout booth give her thumbs up and tell her Frank says THANKS again.

I would never use Alamo again after my experience with them during 9/11/2001. We were stuck in Vegas for 6 extra days due to 911. We had a rental car with Alamo and once we realized that we were there for extra days we called Alamo and told them that we would need to keep the car until we got a new flight. They said fine but they were going to charge a non return fee of $150 plus charge a higher rate for the rest of the stay. Others that I was with had cars from Dollar and they were told we understand and to just keep the car at the same rate until they could get new flights. So I returned my car and got a new car from Dollar for a cheaper rate and was told to keep it until I got a return flight. From that day forward, I will never use Alamo. I look at it as taking advantage of a customer during that crisis.
