Anyway,
I Love the Dollar Store. :rotfl2: I can usually find Disney Stuff there along with cool gadgets for electronics and stuff.

I know everyone has probably shopped in a dollar store at least once (or maybe twice) in their life time and probably found a cool gadget.

Sooo.
What did you find at the dollar store for your disney trip?

I went to the dollar store on Friday and found a Neck Strap for my camera. It's nothing BIG but it's cool in my book because I don't have to keep putting my camera away because i don't want to carry it all the time. Now I can just wear it around my neck when i'm just walking around the park. :) It's of good quality too. :)

I get tons of glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces when I can find them. Then we all wear them in the evening to find each other. I usually end up giving out a bunch too some of the children who notice my kids and like them. :)

One of the things I really like is that everything is so cheap, it can be "disposable" if needed.

reading glasses (so I have lots of extras with me)
sets of toothbrushes (that can be thrown away instead of packed while still wet)
toothbrush holder (to keep the counter de-cluttered)
disposable tupperware (for those desserts you want to take back to the room)
toys/books/puzzles (for the drive down)
nightlights
baggies

i buy ponchos at dollar tree. they are VERY handy. we also get snacks for the road and light-up bracelets and necklaces. a very handy, cheap thing i found, though not at the dollar store, was a $2.99 car charger for my new cell phone at cellphoneshop.com. i also got a screen protector and protective case for $1.99 each!

For our Disney trip I bought 17 2/$1.00 ponchos that worked like a charm, glow necklaces, Disney window character stickers and tatoos, Disney key chains and coloring books for the grands, even cool Disney socks and wrapping paper are a few things that come to mind. Sometimes I'm surprised at the quality stocking stuffer things for C'mas. We enjoy browsing the dollar store and frequent it often. :goodvibes

For my last trip I purchased a shower curtain liner from the dollar store. Using clothes pins I added it to the curtain divider they have seperating the sink area from the rest of the room. It helped to block out the light, so that the sleeping family members could keep sleeping.:)

I have also purchased glow sticks, window clings and other decorations for my room window, and rain ponchos. The ponchos were pretty horrible, they ripped way to easily, and didn't last thru one rain shower. This time I'm going to pack some of my old Disney ones, they are much more durable.

I could use a camera neck strap! I was constantly taking out/putting away the camera. It would be so nice to leave it around my neck. I'm going to be looking for those! What section did you find it in?

Well its not a dollar, its more like seven, but I never go on vacation without one. http://www.magellans.com/store/Landing_Pages___Adventure_TravelSV102?Partner_ID=DTLNK

They are big enough for my pass, roomkey, license, credit card and a some paper currency. I never have to go through the little search thing at WDW, I can take it in the water, swimming or snorkeling.

I like those! I need one now. :)

I too have bought the glow sticks, rain ponchos (what a deal when compared to Disney's prices on those things. $ store ponchos work just as well for us!), pop up laundry hamper, laundry bag, etc.. The dollar store is great, especially for trips!

I also buy the glow sticks/bracelets/necklaces, little activities for the plane ride, cheap toys to take on the plane/have in the hotel room, light up mini fans, hanging shoe organizer (for keeping toiletries off the bathroom counters), little pretzel and cheese or breadstick and cheese snack individual snacks, coloring/activity books for the plane, stickers to decorate our door sign, mini packs of tissues, etc. I buy the ponchos there for one time use, so I don't have to pack them in our back pack wet or try to dry them out back in the room.

I got the Camera Strap for $1.00 at the Dollar Zone in Belleville NJ. If you can't find one I can get one for you. it's really good quality too. I was surprised. They are usually in the camera department in the major stores probably. I just came acrossed it at the dollar zone. I think the Dollar Zone is a bit better then Dollar Tree just a bit. i haven't found a lot of things at the dollar tree recently. Dollar Zone once had really good Disney Stationary but not any more :sad2:.
Also, I just love the halloween decor at the Dollar Zone they have wrist bands that are reflective and make great for the halloween party.

Thanks! That's really sweet! I'm going to look at our Dollar stores. There are a few that I hit, and they carry different things. Between those, I bet I find one. I just never thought to look for one!

It is amazing all the deals you can get there!

I think the things I was most thankful for were the rain ponchos (saved a lot of bucks on those!) and the pop up laundry hamper. So handy!

I absolutely love Dollar Stores - and not just for Disney stuff.. I always find the neatest stuff in them.. Many of them also carry the same expensive scrapbook supplies that you pay an arm and a leg for at the craft stores! I like their lined hard-cover journals - in all different sizes; decorated stationary; calendars; cookbooks; various office supplies that I go through like water; I've purchased 60-minute calling cards there; always get the 2-for-a-dollar rain ponchos for up here to the lake; assorted storage containers; movies; CD's; stickers for my scrapbooks; unpainted wooden bird houses; etc..

Ironically, I was just talking to my DD and DGD on Sunday about Christmas and I told them I would be extremely happy if they would just do their shopping for me at the Dollar Stores.. We have several different companies - each carryng things that the others don't - and if they hit each one of them, I'd end up with a boat load of Christmas gifts to open on Christmas morning for probably $30 - $40 tops!! :thumbsup2

Can't beat that - and I would be a happy as could be!! :yay::yay::yay:

Is that in the strip mall right off 21?

It's across from Kmart in the mall where Food Basic is.. :)
The strap is in the farthest isle to your right, when you walk in. If you head towards that isle in front of the cashiers i believe the strap will be on the left hand side when you walk up a few feet.

OMG, YES, I've bought several over the door shoe hangers for family members for our vacations/cruises, very best thing to hold makeup, sun screen & glasses, keys, ID's, etc. orgnaized in one place. :goodvibes

We have 4 local $ stores, so what one doesn't have the other will . If we're talking non Disney, other things we like are DH's soy milk for $1, he buys by case, same brand as grocery stors sells @$3. carton, he also likes their bags of asst. fruit and nuts uses in oatmeal (always ck dates), I love their mylar ballons, gifts bags/bows, big party decore section, also buy my 82yo Mom a big asst of cards with all family BD's etc. recorded on a calendar and they always have generous supply holiday decorations, and selection of educational and crafts supplies for daycare or when grands are here. :)
DH & I aways get a chuckle at their $ pregnancy tests at the front counter that we sure don't need now. :rotfl2:

Still using the dollar shoe bag I bought 10 yrs ago it's been to disney many times. I have a small manicure set that travels with us that i bought there several yrs ago. Few other gadgets as well my latest purchase was my booklight I stay up an read many nights after dh goes to sleep.

Thanks. That's the one I was thinking of, I come on 21. I'm going to check it out this weekend. :goodvibes

Nightlights are a must have and an extension cord or power strip to charge stuff.

GMA just did a news story about dollar stores. Their expert said not to buy anything electrical from the dollar stores, as they were finding they were prone to fires. Apparently it is very easy to fake the UA symbol on them. And also to never buy any electrical item that doesn't have that seal right on the item, on the box doesn't count!

They also said to not buy anything you put in your mouth, as much of the stuff sold is made over-seas, and just not up to our health standards. No food, no pill, no toothpaste. Well, unless you recognize the brand and are sure it is not a knock-off.

For what it is worth, I just thought I would pass this along. Even if you do buy this stuff at the dollar store, knowing to be careful and look at what you are getting is not a bad thing.
