I received a promo code today, and am thinking about springing for a night at Great Wolf Lodge around Christmas. I know lots of families that have gone, but with younger kids (4-6 yo). My girls are 10 and 8, are they too old? Or will they still enjoy the waterpark?

OMG! We  Great Wolf Lodge!! We have gone on a couple different occassions with kids ages 2,10,12,14,16,18 and several adults. ALL of the kids, and grown-ups, thought it was a great time. They can't wait to go back! I say reserve it and have a great time!

I was looking into the Great Wolf Lodge as well. Looks SOOOOO expensive though :(. I know that you get water park admission with your room. It's food and whatnot that seems to add up.

I think your girls would like the waterpark. Very comparable to other outdoor waterparks and truthfully they are probably better swimmers at 8 and 10 than the little ones and should definitely have fun.

However, "springing" for it during Christmas...GOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK. Be prepared to pay the highest rate possible. Its insane how the rates for the Great Wolf Lodge sky rocket during ANY holiday.

I know the rate, even with a code, is killing me. $219.95 for a Sunday night. I'm willing to bring a jar of peanut butter and a loaf of bread and a bunch of snacks/drinks.

But I need to meet up with my parents sometime, my mom wants to come up here for Christmas this year. Halfway is in the middle of nowhere western Missouri. I often drive 2/3 of the way and meet them in NW Arkansas and get a hotel room there, but if they are willing to drive to Kansas City, this would be fun.

They will love it. We went with DD who was 4 and her cousins 3 and 5. They had a blast. It was tough getting them to all settle down at night though. Go, you'll have a great time.

We took DD8, DS5, and 2 little girl cousins 9 and 11 and they LOVED it!! So did DH and I. Plan to eat in the room though....you think the room is expensive...try the resturants! But the rooms usually are standard with a fridge and microwave, so it makes it easy to eat in.

Oh yea, they'll love it! I think bringing your own food is a great idea. My entire family has never cared for any of the food in the 3 different Lodges we have been to.

Are you going with a standard room or the wolf's den?

Just curious how you can get a promo code?? I would love one.

Just as an aside, assuming you are going to the one in KC, there are a LOT of restaurants surrounding the lodge that you can walk to (or drive if you wish) so you are not limited to the lodge restaurants. My husband had a business meeting there a couple of years ago and we walked across the street to Famous Daves BBQ for dinner. Now there is also the Legends Shopping Center right there so there are plenty of restaurants there as well as outlet stores if that interests you. Just wanted to throw that out there.

We usually try to go for one of those "inservice" days at the kids schools. The kids have no school, we have to take time off anyway, and it is usually different days for different school districts so the water park is typically empty! We were just at the one in the Poconos this Wednesday and it was great. The other bonus was that we found a promo code for $129! The room rates are much better for these days than Holidays and after being there one crowded Sunday, I really appreciate the reduced crowds!
Have fun.

My ds10 and my oh so cool dd12 LOVED it! What was great for us was that it was so contained, they just ran off on their own the whole time, except when they wanted us to ride with them. We just kept eyes on the 5, 5, and 7 year old. We're going back in November.

Wow - the cheapest we've ever been able to get was $308 (we need a kids cabin room). And that was with a code! We brought a cooler for lunch, and went to Friendly's for dinner. With the cost of waterparks these days, a hotel room (which we usually need to get 2 rooms) plus 2 days at a waterpark for 7, $300 seems cheap!

also wondering how you get the code? ARe you on some type of mailing list? Please share :goodvibes

We're going to the one in Sandusky for DS's 6th birthday. He chose GWL over having a traditional birthday party. We got the Wolf's Den Suite on the waterpark level. I couldn't find an entire map of the lodge, but I picked waterpark level over having a balcony since it will be December. :thumbsup2

Since there is usually a refrig/microwave in the room we take our own food/snacks. We will usually just order pizza the night we arrive. We take along cereal for breakfast. Just pack a cooler!

Wow $219 would be a deal for the GWL around here.

My son is 9 and LOVES it there.

Which code did you use?

My kids love the great wolf lodge and they are 4,8 and 10. I think your kids will love it. With older kids I would not be so worried about going when it is crowded but if you had younger ones I would be. They can get quite crowded.
