Dan got admitted into Western!! :bounce:

I heard a big yell from downstairs and ran down wondering what had happened. He found out from his personal "My UWO" online site, at the university.

He had already heard from Waterloo back in February that he got accepted again there, based on last year's marks.

He said it was worth going back to upgrade courses and re-apply to Western again this year. His admittance is based on the addition of his first semester marks to the best of his last year's marks (and he's still taking a couple of subjects this semester, which he's doing well in, too. He doesn't need them now but will complete).

He was so disappointed last year when he didn't get into Western and at the last minute decided to turn down Waterloo and Carleton and try again.

He's very excited, to say the least! ::yes::

:bounce: CONGRATULATIONS DAN!!!! :Pinkbounc

WAY TO GO!!!! WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST AT WESTERN!!!

You all must be very proud!!!

Congrats and like I said before if he need a place to stay I know the best place about 2 blocks from the school.

:Pinkbounc That's great news Julie. Western is the best University in the country. Oh wait.. that's where I graduated from and never left. I've worked here 18 years this year.

Now, for the important information... Western's Spring Break should be the week of February 21, 2005. So start planning your vacation!!

Tell Dan, he'll love it here. They have the best staff.

Thanks Darren, I hope he gets residence for first year, but 2nd year he'll probably be looking for somewhere to stay. I guess the information package will arrive shortly.

Thanks for that very important piece of information, Susan. ;) I was wondering about Western's Spring Break. Dan loved the campus when he and I went there for Open House back in November/02. He just couldn't imagine himself going anywhere else and was so disappointed when he didn't get in last year.

Just wanted to say congratulations too! I went to the University of Toronto but always envied the kids who went to Western; not only did they have great academic programs but they all seemed to have a lot of fun too!

Great news! You must be very proud!

That's great news Julie. My DS has decided to go back to high school for another year for which I'm very grateful. He's not ready for university yet.

Lynda -- went to U of T too. Didn't hate it but didn't love it either -- really enjoyed visiting friends at other universities. Went to Windsor as well and did like that.

Congratulations to Dan. I know he must be pleased. :)

My sympathies to you Julie...there goes the Disney Fund. ;) But don't worry...we'll still find a way to feed your habit. I'm working on it as I post. :)

Ya I am purple and proud go Stangs. Let me know if he needs a place Julie I hope he gets into res but if not we will get him a good place to stay.

Congrats...Hope it is all you wanted it to be once you are there...:hyper:

Congrats to Dan !!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Julie, you must be so proud.

Tell him when he's starting to apply for residence, Perth should be his first choice ... our nephew is the "head soph" there for the upcoming year (NancyK's son) and it's the newest res on campus. Whatever he does, don't request Saugeen Maitland -- he'll probably end up there anyway but you sure don't want to make it one of your first choices :p

That's awesome news Julie! Tell him congrats! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm so happy for you and Dan! Tell him congratulations! I was going to tell you to have him put down Perth as his first choice for rez, but Mary Liz beat me to it! The residence was new last year and it has great spirit already! My son lived at Westminster Residence his first year and really enjoyed that also. It's a small residence and very, very nice. A lot of the first years DO end up in Saugeen-Maitland because it's a high rise with about 1200 students. The sheer number of students there is the only reason I would put that as last choice. He's going to have a great time no matter which rez he ends up in! Western is a beautiful campus!:bounce: :bounce:

Dan says "thanks for the congratulations", from everyone. He's gone out for dinner with a couple of his friends, one from Western, to celebrate.

He was really hoping that his first semester's marks, which eliminated 2 lower marks from last year, would be enough to get him an early offer of admission so that he didn't have to wait until he got this semester's marks added to find out. I think he's breathing a sigh of relief tonight! Me too actually, that we won't have to go through what we went through last spring!

I will tell him about Perth residence NancyK and Mary Liz. I don't know if he has any ideas because he has a few friends already at Western.

LOL, thanks, Susan! My getting back to Disney will require some expert planning! ;)

Great news, Julie! I am so glad that he got just what he wanted. Sometimes things are worth the longer wait!

Congratulations Dan !

We are waiting to hear too. It is really nerve racking. Such a weight off your mind, I'm sure.

Congratulations I hear it is the best school. My 2 nieces currently attend Western. They cannot say enough about it. :Pinkbounc

Congratulations to Dan and to Mom!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
