We save our change in an old empty Ozarka water bottle. The bottle is huge, but the opening is small. We put $10 in bills a week and every penny, dime, nickel & quarter we can get our hands on. We never pay with change, ever! If it costs $1.01 we pay $2 and now there's $0.99 for the change jar. We call it "Mickey Money". The great thing about the jar is that it's very hard to get the money out, and if someone tries to get any you have to turn the jar completely upside down and the whole house knows by the loud racket it makes.
Another great tip is when it looks like it's got quite a bit of cash (at least $100) take it out and count it. Roll it or do whatever your bank requires (our bank has a machine to count it) and then take the cash to a Disney Store and trade it for Disney Dollars. We just took ours and got $140 Disney Dollars after saving only 2 months! While we were there I bought 2 clearance Buzz shirts for $3.99 each, but not with my Disney money.
Also, if you ever have a yard sale just stick all the change you got right into the jar. Just pretend like you never got it. You know how much change you can get at a yard sale?
