Great Tips on Saving Your Change for WDW!!

We save our change in an old empty Ozarka water bottle. The bottle is huge, but the opening is small. We put $10 in bills a week and every penny, dime, nickel & quarter we can get our hands on. We never pay with change, ever! If it costs $1.01 we pay $2 and now there's $0.99 for the change jar. We call it "Mickey Money". The great thing about the jar is that it's very hard to get the money out, and if someone tries to get any you have to turn the jar completely upside down and the whole house knows by the loud racket it makes.
Another great tip is when it looks like it's got quite a bit of cash (at least $100) take it out and count it. Roll it or do whatever your bank requires (our bank has a machine to count it) and then take the cash to a Disney Store and trade it for Disney Dollars. We just took ours and got $140 Disney Dollars after saving only 2 months! While we were there I bought 2 clearance Buzz shirts for $3.99 each, but not with my Disney money.
Also, if you ever have a yard sale just stick all the change you got right into the jar. Just pretend like you never got it. You know how much change you can get at a yard sale?

Great tip for the jar with the small opening. My change can has a huge lid and apparently it is very easy to remove all the quarters. LOL!!

Lisa too!!

That's too weird! I'm the one that originally posted this tip and my name is Lisa too. NO JOKE!!

I do the exact same thing you do to save change, my husband even has my routine down at the store, and doesnt give change anymore when paying for something, he only uses bills now. I have saved 140.00 in the past two months by doing this. I have a big coffee can with a regular lid, but it is well hidden from the family so nobody dips in. My goal is to have about 300.00 by January. My kids also scour the sofa and other places in the house on a monthly basis, and I can't believe what they come up with. They love doing that, and the little ones really can get into the corners. They get all excited knowing that the money will be for disney world!!!

Great Ideas..

I have been saving my change now for a month now and throwing in all the extra $$ I have in my wallet on Friday nights.. Ijust had to count it the other night to see what I had collected and I already had $75.00 of course, my DH is complaining that I take his change ever night and he has to use his bills for coffee..hehehe just more change for me to save this way.

We are putting ours in DD's Piggybank! WE will exchange the change and put "dollars" in hers and then roll up the change for the vacation fund! I know it's not exactly saving per say, but dd is great at finding stray change all over!;)

We've had a Disney jar for 3 years now . First time we had $1200, second - $950. We'll cash it in every August for our trip. I also add monthly my $125.00 transit reimb that gets deducted from my paycheck. The $150 I use to pay for my DD after-school care last year also goes in the account. I operned up a account at Commerce that I deposit it all in.

I use a DS piggy bank and then provide additional funds through my ING Direct savings account...

I have a new change jar. Used to be a empty bottle of wine, now it is a bucket from WDW that popcorn came in. Had bought the one at Mk, but didnt think it was very cute, so when I saw the one from MGM with characters on it, we bought it too. So it is my official "Disney Money"
