My family (all 14 of us) went to the Safari Celebration dinner Grand Gathering. The posts here that described it were very accurate - a show at Flights of Wonder, a small surprise, a Safari ride, and dinner at Tusker house with live animals and characters. I did not expect to like the food very much, but it was delicious. The waitress brought all of the kids (6) chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and apple sauce, and told them they were welcome to try any of the African foods. (The rice was a hit, couscous were not) The prime rib and potato wedges were great. There was plenty of time for the meal and for meeting the animals and the characters. There were guides for each group. I felt it was very personalized and it was wild to be in the park so late after closing. The tree of life illuminated in the dark is something to see. If you are on the fence about doing this, go for it. Especially if you have great animal fans in your group!
