Great Escape Lake George

I had heard the food and parking was expensive. Will have to leave a cooler in the car.

--------------------

There used to be a time when you could leave the park, eat outside, and then come back in, but I'm not sure if they allow that anymore..

Two years in a row now family members have been read the riot act for trying to bring water in for the kids.. I was pretty shocked to find that their prices for food and drinks were higher than Disney!

If you like go-carts and miniature golf, there are several nice places for that.. A Western town (I think it's just a bit north of the Great Escape) that is pretty neat.. The outlet stores; boat rides on Lake George; etc.. Lots and lots of fun things to do! :)

Have fun! :)

I like Lake George and it is very pretty but Six Flags is boring if you have been more than once. The rides are lame - Disney spoils you. Even my kids are bored with Great Escape. Yes it is very expensive now that you can not take food in and it really isn't that good for the price you pay. You never used to have to pay for parking and the last couple of years, you have to pay to park - probably due to Great Wolf Lodge across the street.

I have been going to the great Escape since it was Storytown and I still love it. I think its a great park for families. My kids are never bored when we go.
We usually go camping in LG for our vacation but this year we are going to Disney so no Lake George. Anyway, you can do the Great Escape in a day, we go when it opens and leave when its closed and we have been able to do everything we wanted. There is a water park inside and that is included in your admission (at least it was last year) so don't forget your suits. I thought they allow you to bring in water as long as it isn't opened, if it is they make you throw it away. I would check because I'm not 100% positive on that one.
Lake George is a beautiful area, you will really enjoy it.

Lake George is probably a 2 hour drive for us, so we may do a day trip and drive back depending on how pinched we are feeling. I thought it might tide us over until our next trip to WDW. I can't believe your family got in trouble for trying to bring in water!

Anyone been recently? Is it worth the trip? We are going to Disney in December and thinking about it for this summer. Any opinions on season's pass or places to stay. TIA. :confused3

Try AAA, I know my local one has tickets for like $15 less per person then gate pricing....:cutie:

Thanks. I think I can get adult ticket for child pricing through a local grocery store-Big Y.

We are going to Great Escape this week. Any discounts out there to look for? I live closer to Great Adventure and we always have buy one get one free Coke cans.

I think if you buy your tickets online ahead of time, and enter the code coldstone you will get adult ticket for kid's price.

My DD and I just went last weekend. There was a discount through Heinz ketchup. It was for $10 off the tickets. My friend sent me a link, but you should be able to just check their website.

Also regarding bringing in water... the sign says you may bring in an empty water container or an unopened bottle of water. I couldn't find that info on the website, so we didn't bring anything. But--- you can ask for a free cup of ice water at any of the restaurants. I did not see one other person do this all day, but I got them at various places even at times that I didn't purchase anything. I figured if Disney does it, it was worth asking. That probably saved me $20. :thumbsup2
