What are good cheap items you buy to bring on your trip. I have heard of people bringing their own glowsticks. Any other ideas?

Rain ponchos from the $ store

We did this once & I'll never do it again. The poncho's were short sleeved, so I wound up with wet arms. The poncho's only went to our waist, too, so they were very short. Spend a few more cents and buy the better type that they have at Outdoor World or any other type of outdoor store.

My DD didn't care about the glow-sticks either. I hear a lot about them but they are pretty lame compared to the light up toys they sell at night at WDW. the kids could probably care less & it's less junk to pack.;)

YMMV.

.

The dollar tree 2 for $1 used to be fine, but over the last few years they have completely shrunk so that they're effectively the size of tank tops (as you described with no sleeves and only to waist) on most adults, but might be OK for small children. Instead we find disposable ponchos at Wal-Mart that are $.89 and it's well worth the extra cost. If it's going to be a colder rain and rain for longer then we bring our heavier, reusable ones (similar to Disney's) that we bought at Academy for about $3.

But the $.89 ones are great for summer rain and also for the water rides!:thumbsup2

Check the dollar store or Target for Disney clothes. We found the cutest Mickey and Eeyore fleece jackets two years ago for $10 at the dollar store.

I found the shoe organizer at a dollar store. It has a clothes hanger hook on top instead of the over-door-hooks but it's fine since I plan to hang it on the clothes rod anyway.

It's not necessarily a good bargain, price-wise, but I've found sunblock and bug repellent in travel sizes at Target. Since we're flying carry-on only, these will come in very handy.

I got a fold up hamper for about 4 bucks. It's perfect for travelling.

I second this. It rained everyday we were there (9/18-23) and the Dollar Tree ponchos I had were worthless. My arms and legs were soaked in minute, I may as well have not been wearing it. The only use I see for them is to put on chairs/benches that are wet. Spend the extra money to get nice ones.

Things I have gotten at dollar stores: pocket-sized tissue packs, wetnaps, Disney-themed chap stick, Disney band aides. Batteries are hit-or-miss. The ones from Family Dollar die in about 5 minutes, but the ones from Dollar Tree are okay.

We bring glow sticks everytime and usually have numerous people asking where in WDW I purchased them, they were pretty shocked when I told them I got them at the $$$ store prior to coming. We put several our entire party and it was so easy to keep track of them, especially at Epcot which I thought tended to be a little "darker" in areas.

I've brought $Tree ponchos in the past; if they've changed I guess I need to hit WM for better ones.

Other $Tree/Target $Spot items:
Shampoo/Conditioner
Toothbrushes (pack of 4)/Small toothpaste
Soap
Hand soap
razors ($Tree has 4-blade razors that are pretty good, imo)
lotion
(All of the above are "disposable" IMO and whatever is leftover is left behind or trashed - once that stuff is opened it leaks, and I don't want it getting all over everything on the trip home)

laundry bags (to separate dirty from clean in suitcases)
comb/brush (my good ones don't leave the house. Ever.)
shoe bag/over the door organizer
activity books/crayons for the car trip and cheap toys to keep kids busy in lines
Target's $ Spot almost always has character socks for little kids, and those characters are often Disney, so I grab any boyish ones I see.

I also tend to pick up whatever strikes my fancy that is more of a seasonal or "sometimes" item they carry; for instance I found glow-in-the-dark shoelaces for the boys there a couple of weeks ago - those got tossed in the Disney box. I'm there at least once per month, so I just pick up items here or there rather than making one big stock-up trip then throw everything into a plastic box with handles (also a $Tree find) so that I know where to find my "goodies" when it's packing time.

I buy glow bracelets/necklaces in bulk - amazon has 50 for about $6.

I take glow wands and glow swords from the Dollar Tree. They are about 12 inches long. The wands have a large star at the top. My kids love them and people around us have asked where we got them. They are surprised they came from the Dollar Tree. I've only had one out of 10 that didn't work. Since they're cheap, you could buy a couple extra just in case and they are easy to pack.

I found some sticks of quick drying SPF 50 liquid sunscreen on clearance at Rite Aid last week for 2.50 each. I forget the brand name but since I don't like the feel of greasy sunscreen I thought these would be great for our face and hair line.

Has anyone ever found aerosol sunscreen in little cans anywhere? Maybe trial size?
