Please recommend the best Disney World books (secrets, hidden things, fun finds, Imagineering, and maybe a short one on history).

The field guides are good for the types of things you are looking for and in terms of history (and I know it's dated) I still enjoy Since the World Began.

Short on history but I'd recommend The Unofficial Guide to WDW, tons of info on things to do, how to do them and little known features and tips.

For history, you may want to check out the Yesterland website. Its more focused on DL, but does have a good section on WDW as well.
