Has anyone out there gone to Great Bear Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio? We're planning a trip there in July and want to know if it's worth the money. Thanks!

Haven't been to bear lodge but have been to Sister resort in Mi It was odoles of fun.

I will tell you one thing...It seems worth the money. I am going to Sandusky in June and thought about staying there. When I called them to get reservatins, i got the NICEST person in the world. Very chatty and very interested in my trip even though I was just trying to get prices. Even gave me help on how to save money on a room. I wish I could afford to stay there....they have an indoor waterpark too!! We may still even for just one night

We too thought of staying there, but opted for On-site Cedar Point just for the convenience of being so close to the park and early entry. When I inquired about prices at Great Bear Lodge, they were very friendly and gave a discounted rate. I still think of changing my ressies from time to time!

Yes!! We stayed there for 5 days the week of the 4th of July. Very nice! Beautiful room. We stayed in the largest suite cuz there was so many of us. So huge and decorated beautifully. Wonderful staff. The pool is great especially for little ones. I would definitely go back.

We went there last winter and we our 5 and 8 year old (at the time) boys loved it. We also have a 16year old and he liked it but got a bit bored by the end of the trip. there are only 4 maybe 5 slide for older kids . He took a friend and they went on the slides multiple times , "played" on the water/climbing for about 2 hours but that was about all there was for him. He did enjoy himself and said it was fun to do in the middle of the winter but he just wished there was a little more for the older set. It really was beautiful and I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

Pretty expensive for what you get. the "waterpark" is small
as it is inside. The pools require loads of chlorine, for obvious
reasons, and two in our party broke out from either the chlorine
or some water born "thing". doctor thought chlorine was the
culprit. We spent two nights and were very glad we weren't there
longer. Not horrible but "been there, done that." Would I recommend it? Dead of winter when there's nothing else to do
outside-maybe. summer time when there are way more fun things
to do-not hardly. Especially for the money involved.
Talked to the mother of DS's friend the other day - they had
a very similar experience-including the rash!

A good friend of mine went there for the weekend with her DH and 2 sons, ages 6 and 4. They LOVED It!!!
She just raved about it and said they had a fantastic time!!

Yep, we went there this past March -- absolutely loved it! :) :) Our 2 year old had such a blast -- we literally had to drag him out of the waterpark to go to dinner. We did get a discounted room because we went during the middle of the week, and during the spring, when it wasn't as busy, but we'd definitely go again! :)
