We are just about to wrap up a 2 week stay at the BCV, everything about this stay would have been perfect except for one thing. Last Wednesday when the housekeeping department took away our sheets, my son's stuffed puppy was taken away. I know what you are thinking, a "stuffed puppy", big deal! However, he got this puppy on his 2nd birthday from a dear friend and since then he has slept with this stuffed animal every night. It has been to the BCV for the past 3 years, and it went with him to school everyday in his first year of kindergarten. He is absolutely heartbroken over this. It was something we were looking forward to tucking away as a keepsake when he outgrew it.

When we first noticed it was missing, which was about 4:30 in the afternoon on the same day it was taken we were told that the linens went out and it would take roughly 2 to 3 days to get an answer. I called daily and the 2 to 3 days became 6 to 7 days. Everytime I called, each person I spoke to was very nice, but not one person ever called me back as they indicated they would. Additionally, I not one person simply appologized for this. I finally called the GM yesterday and he left me a message back today indicating that this happens with some regularity and that there is a process in place to track these things down. Quite frankely, based on his message, I am not sure we have a great chance of ever seeing this stuffed animal again.

So I am hoping we get some last bits of magic before we leave for back home.

I know what you are going through. My DS was in the hospital with her favorite stuffed cat and when they came in and changed the sheets, it was wrapped up in the dirty sheets. Fortunately we realized it quickly and I had to go through the linen to find it. It was right on the top.

I hope they can find it for him. On our last stay this past April I lost my favorite bathing suit, and we had stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, the Marriott Grande Vista and the Poly (yes, all in the same trip!) and it was terrible trying to track it down. Each person I talked to said they had lists of hundreds of items, but each seemed to have a system to track things and find the owner. I am hoping Disney magic reaches you and that one day your son gets a special package! :wizard:

Its too bad about the puppy. You would think if this was that common, and there was a process in place, that it would move a little quicker! Good luck.

Hi,

Sorry about the puppy!!! Hopefully it will be found. Glad you had a great BCV stay.

I feel for you! :( If my little guy lost "baby bear" it would be awful! I hope that they find it for you and your ds. :)

Our little one lost his favorite blanket in September 2002 at BWV. It was laying on the bed and housekeeping picked it up when they changed the bed. I spoke to every Manager I could and it still was not found before we left but he did receive a stuffed Mickey and signed picture. The Manager even offerred for us to go buy a new blanket and he would pick up the tab and even return our old one if it was found. We ended up leaving without the blanket but about a week after we returned home, we received a call and the blanket was found. They did mail it back to us.

One thing I did wrong was, I told our son that Mickey was helping look for his blanket and while that worked great for awhile it created some confusion when we saw Mickey. Peyton would ask Mickey if he had found his blanket yet and MIckey would look at us very confused and we would have to explain. Thank goodness everything ended up well. So don't give up hope. They can do some pretty impressive stuff!!

I really feel for you and hope the puppy shows up soon! As a parent, it's so hard to see our children heartbroken.

When we were younger, we took a cruise and my sister, 4 at the time, left her favorite security diaper....yes diaper, a clothe diaper she loved!....in the bed. Of course it was gone and she was heartbroken. 26 yrs later, she still brings it up and is convinced my mother really threw it overboard since she had been trying to get DSis to give it up! It's become a family joke but I do still remember how heartbroken she was at the time.
Since then, I still always check the beds before we leave the room. I would be so upset if one of my kids lost their lovie.

Good Luck to you!!

Gee, I hope it turns up. We take "spare" bears on our trips so the others will be safe at home. Prior to that, my DD dropped her bear as we were walking through MCO. Luckily someone saw it and ran it to us. After that my kids were agreeable to leaving the good ones at home.

I am so sorry about the missing stuffed puppy. I think most any parent can understand how this can be so upsetting to the little one. My son, now 12, had a favorite stuffed bear, that was in a flower arrangement that my sister-in-law sent when he was born. That bear went everywhere with him and once we had a scare, but did find him.

I truly hope that the puppy shows up and you have nothing but good memories of this trip!! Good Luck!! :flower:

how is your son sleeping? Any nightmares or bad dreams?

if not - then he might be fine.

if they are - call the manager of the hotel. He might be able to help - he might not. But he can definitely get more action than you can.

Make sure he knows that NO ONE has called you back.

Also complaint to DVC and your guide. For these people not to call you back - well they have no excuse.

I am so sorry!!! I hope WDW can find your son's puppy. :wizard:  :sad1:

awwww - I feel bad about your missing well loved puppy.

:wizard: Hope it turns up soon!

We had a similar situation where a treasured Pooh Bear was put in checked luggage since all carry on bags were full. You should have seen the terror when the bag did not show up. American gave us a locater number and a phone number to call for updates on the bag. They said most likely the bag would be on the next flight which arrived at 1130 PM which was too late for us to wait. So we drove home and I kept calling the phone number all night only to be told that our precious cargo had not been found. I made a trip back to the airport early the next morning before work and they had our bag in the back, but said the recording that we were calling wouldn't be updated until after 730 AM when the luggage folks reported to work. I asked why we were told to call after the 1130 PM flight arrived then? It was a long restless night, but all turned out in the end and I hope the same is true of your lost puppy.

THanks for all your well wishes! Seems like many of us have had similiar experiences. Since I posted this thread, a very thoughtful staff member called me back from Lost and Found and indicated they would continue to look for the stuffed animal and ship it to us if found, so hopefully we will get a nice surprise in NJ. In the meantime, she purchased my son the stuffed animal of his choice, he chose Stitch

In Oct 2004, We stayed at the bwv my son's special blanket must have gotten mixed in with the bed linens. It was not until we got home that we realized his blanket was forgotten. We called the BWV and spoke to a few people and were told that the linens were sent out to be cleaned and we would be notified if they found anything. My son was crushed he had this blanket from the day he was born and I to wanted to keep it for a keepsake. Weeks went by without any word and we were coming to terms with the fact that we lost "white". One very special day we recieved a package from Disney and inside was our beloved "white" and a few other things we must have forgotten. So please keep your hopes up and I hope you to get a special package in the mail. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. My DS left his toy fox in bed one morning at the Grand Floridian and not realizing this we left the room. When we returned, the beds had been changed and the fox was gone. He was so sad. We left a detailed description and called several numbers we were given without any luck. I hope you have better luck. I know Mousekeeping is trying to clean as fast as they can, but it sure would be great if they shook out the sheets once to make sure nothing was in them before taking them away.
