Gratuities question

Our first trip to Disney coming up, so I am not familiar with the way gratuities work. We have a party of 7. So under our Basic dining plan will we be automatically charged our gratuity, and will it be on both Table service and counter service? Sorry if this is a dumb question I just want to know what to expect. What should I expect it to be around?

I am pretty sure gratuties are included on the Dining Plan for 2007 for table service meals (they are being eliminated in 2008). You do not tip at Counter Service at all.

Yep, if your trip is in 2007, the gratuity is already included in the plan you paid for.

If it's in 2008, gratuity will be up to you. I don't think they automatically add anything for parties less than 8 people.

I normally wouldn't tip at a counter service unless the CM did something really spectacular for us.

15% grat. included on all table service with your pre-paid plan. (It might be 18% - you may want to double check). Disney encourages dropping an extra tip in if you wish. I only do so if I have received exceptional service which for me means that I have not had to wait and/or ask for a drink refill.

NO tipping needed or included at counter service as they are the equivalent of fast food restaurants along the lines of McDonalds are Burger King - only much better. I personally suggest Harbour House in MK (between liberty square and fantasy land) and Mexico Cantina on the pond in EPCOT.

In 2008, they will add an 18% gratuity for all parties of 6 or more.

Ouch! 18% mandatory gratuity since our party is 7 people? We're going in January so I guess we fall under these guidelines.
