Can you only get the Grapefruit Cake at the Brown Derby? I thought I read that you can get it somewhere else in the park.

I'm interested in the Grapefruit Cake, because in September I won an honorable mention in Better Homes and Garden for my "Pink Grapefruit Cake" recipe. I would like to see how it compares to mine but I really don't want to go to the Brown Derby to eat.

But I can tell you this...We love that Grapefruit Cake so much we had it special ordered for our wedding at the WL! :teeth:

i"ve gotten it at the desk as a take out. The restaurant gets lots of requests for this dessert. I asked for it, they came back with a slice in a plastic container and several forks for our group to taste it. I forget what I paid for it, I think $6.00. It's yummy. I also have the recipe. They will give it out to you if you ask for it. It's printed on, ...what else?....a Brown Derby.

I think you can get it at the Starring Rolls bakery next door.
I've seen it there before.
Never tried it, but I've seen it... :)

You can get it at Starring Rolls. If they don't have it they will just go next door to the Brown Derby and get you a piece.

The Grapefruit Cake is so good. We had it when we dined at The Brown Derby last month. If you have never dined at BD you should give it a try, it is a great place to dine.

Really? We were turned down this request back in June.

We had just finished dinner at 50's Prime Time and my DW wanted a piece of Grapefruit Cake as a dessert to go. We just wanted to get a piece and sit down and eat it. I went inside and asked the CM at the counter where you check in. I asked if I could just get a piece of Grapefruit Cake to go. She said she would have to ask someone. A few minutes later, a waitress came out and I asked her if I could get a piece to go. She said no. The only way we could get a piece was if we were dining inside the restaurant. DW was extremely disappointed.

I had heard that you could get it at Starring Rolls, but they were already closed at this time. And when we came back later in the week to Disney Studios, we checked at Starring Rolls and did not see it there.

Yes, really. Maybe I got it at a slow time; but I was not at Starring Rolls, I was at the check in desk just inside the door of the restaurant. The CM's were very nice and as I said, they came back with several spoons for everyone in my party to try it. And, no, we were not eating there.

Well, that is disappointing....

I guess in retrospect, I should have asked for a manager. I can't see why they would turn away money on a very easy customer. :confused3 Just cut a slice, put it in a to go box and send me on my way.....

please share it!

Stupid question: Would I like grapefruit cake if I don't care much for grapefruit? I know that sounds crazy, but I'm not big on carrots, but carrot cake is delicious :earsboy:

I don't like grapefruit...however, the grapefruit cake is delicious. I didn't think the flavor of grapefruit was overpowering. Try it ... :goodvibes

We have gotten the Grapefruit Cake both ways. We have ordered it "to go" at the Brown Derby AND we have bought it at Staring Rolls.

Should just chirp in here and say that the last time we dined at the Derby, the Grapefruit cake had very little grapefruit taste. And very dry to boot. They seemed to have taken a lot of the grapefruit out of it from when I used to order it at the "pre-Fantasmic" Brown Derby.
