Granite Counters and daily cleaning

I have the same color in one of my bathrooms. I use whatever all purpose anti bacterial cleaner I bought that week. It cleans fine. I do not use special cleaners and I prefer something that kills germs.

I use Sprayway Glass Cleaner as it was recommended to me by my contractor to clean my granite counters because it does not have ammonia in it. It leaves the granite clean and shiny.

I now use it on all my counters, mirrors, windows, fixtures, etc. It does not leave streaks like Windex and gets everything very clean.

I have black granite. The installer told me to never use ammonia or bleach on it.

I buy Windex ammonia-free, I think it's called Crystal Rain. I also use a granite cleaner I found in Lowe's that cleans and seals and you can use it every day. It's in a gray container (sorry, I'm not home to check the name)

I bought straight from the factory (saved a load) and the main thing they told me was to never use Dawn. And what kind of dish detergent have I always used? Dawn, lol. So, I try to avoid that but otherwise they've been easy.

We have granite in our master bath and use Simply Green for the most part. Once in a while I'll break out the granite cleaner when hard water starts to build up on the bench in shower.

We have quartz in the kitchen and again Simply Green or 50/50 vinegar and water. I use specific cutting boards for different chopping. Hot water and soap for the counter when done chopping meat.

I spray it with glass cleaner and wipe it down.
I don't know where everyone gets the idea that granite counters are so delicate and high maintenance.:confused3
That's probably why I got quartz. :lmao: I love that I don't have to ever seal it or worry about stains. Because it's non porous I don't really worry about bacteria getting trapped.
Agreed. I have had mine for 10 years now and have not had any of the issues you see others talk about on other threads. Through the years I have had laminate, Corian, tile and granite. The granite is the easiest.

I use whatever cleaner I have and paper towels if I am "really" cleaning. Otherwise I use a wet microfiber cloth. No soap etc. I have sealed our countertops I think 3 times in the past 10 years.
I usually just wipe with paper towels and follow with a damp microfiber cloth and that keeps it shiny.
