Grandpa Mohawk takes a fall

Glad he made it through the surgery okay. Hopefully he will get to enjoy some time at SSR.

I'm so glad the surgery went well! You must be very relieved. I hope the physical therapy goes well and that he gets to spend some time at SSR next week. Thanks for letting me know he got the email. Please tell him that I hope I get the chance to meet you both some day.

I'm so glad the surgery went well! I broke my tib/fib in a fall at EPCOT back in June so reading about your grandpa's accident brought back flashbacks of my accident! A broken leg is SO painful and I hate to know anyone else has to experience that. Sending healing thoughts and prayers to your family.

Its good to hear that Grandpa Mohawk is on the mend!!!! I think sticking around Florida with all the pixie dust pixiedust: and sorcerer's magic :smickey: will help him heal faster and then he'll be tiggeriffic :tigger: before you know it.

So glad to hear GM was able to have his surgery and it went well :grouphug: Prayers and pixiedust: coming his way for a speedy recovery!

Update 2: Another day and more progress. PT's got Grandpa Mohawk up and walking this morning with a walker. He still needs lots of help. But he walked back to his chair, sat and had breakfast.

Lots of family here and all moved in. Cousin and second brother here last night. They fully stocked the kitchenette cabinets. First brother left yesterday. Sister arrives as we speak.

We all have laptops and my cousin has his Slingbox working from home for Fox News and lots more channels. So we'll pick up a wireless router at Walmart and have our mobile office working.

Oh and Disney left me a little surprise for my brithday yesterday. A table full of flowers, balloons and presents.

I'll try and post pictures when I get a minute later. Maybe Grandpa Mohawk's blog will return this trip as a Wheeling Gypsy and Her Caravan chronicle.

Soonest GM is out of the hospital is Sunday, I believe. We're hoping he recoops well enough to come here to SSR with my cousin and I next week. Otherwise he'll be in that in-care facility.

Cross your fingers! And thanks for all the pixie dust. We've been taking in laptops to the hospital and letting GM read this thread.

Very cool that Disney left that surprise for you! GM is one tough dude! Glad to hear he's doing so well :goodvibes

:bday: Happy (belated) Birthday!! :bday: It's great that Disney is providing some magic for you!

Was this the trip that you had originally hoped would be a family outing? It sounds like it has turned in to one, though not quite as you had imagined it!

Great to hear GM is improving and that you had a nice birthday surprise :)

Claire ;)

Thank you so much for taking the time to keep us all updated. More hugs for all of you:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

:bday: Happy Birthday!!

That's wonderful news about GM. Sending prayers and pixie dust for continued speedy recovery. I can't think of anything more therapeutic than a few days of R & R at a Disney resort!!:goodvibes

Another of your fans (and almost neighbor--we're in northern VA) saying prayers and sending pixie dust for both you & GM!

Also so very happy to hear that Disney Magic, in all its manifestations, is still operating in overdrive...

And speaking of Disney Magic: the two of you have become an integral part of Disney/DVC magic for me...I almost automatically think of you when I think of going home (SSR and BCV for us)...

Hope our paths cross sometime--but if not, know you've brought magic into the lives of many of us here on the DIS...and we sure hope our long-distance and cyber appreciation for both of you helps you through this rough spot...

Hang in, and let us know if we can do anything to help--

Hey all!

Just thought I'd check in and give you the latest.

GM still continues to be on the mend, but he's having a bit slower time of it than we'd hoped last time I updated. My sister and brother were here over the weekend along with my cousin. After a particularly great day Friday (begun with them surprising me with a birthday cake at the hospital and GM doing a walk on the hall), GM had a bit of a setback on Saturday. He wanted to show off for us and do a jog around the nurse's station. Unfortunately his heart didn't take too kindly to the rapid exercise. He went back into A-Fib and was banished to bedrest for the rest of the day. His nurse gave him 2 dimerits for all the trouble he caused.

Today he was back to normal and on a slower progress plan. His PT had him just walking the room and back. He's spending the afternoon with my brother watching the football game back home (courtesy of some wireless internet).

Unfortunately I think I burned the candle at both ends a bit too much and ended up with a cold. So I'm spending the afternoon in bed watching Mulan movies. It's looking cloudy and rainy out there anyway. I did get to enjoy breakfast this morning at AP and a walk around DTD. My cousin and I are planning to do some park visiting tonight for EMH if I'm up to it. (Oh, my studio is in Congress Park overlooking a small park and the bus stop.)

As for GM, his spirits remain up but we have no idea what the next step will be. One doctor has him in rehab for 3 weeks, another says a few days, and another says he can go home to the resort, another wants him to go directly home. I don't think we'll know until Tuesday.

The folks at SSR keep asking about GM and sending him well wishes (and a few teases about all the drama he causes).
