Hi all! I'm taking my parents and my 4 year old son on their first Disney trip in October! We have an off day from the parks toward the end of the week...and I'm thinking of doing something nice for my dad and my son. They're attached at the hip! My mom, my best friend and I are doing a day at the outlets. I was looking at some options for "Papa and Asher time", and I need some suggestions. I saw the fishing excursion, which is a possibility. In the morning, we are going to do Chef Mickey's at my son's request, then splitting off around 10 or so.

Anyone have any ideas for something for bonding time? A good lunch and some fun boy stuff would be ideal. They both love cars, trains and outdoor things. Thanks in advance :)

I don't leave the WDW resort when I am there, but there may be a train museum or cars attraction type thing around or in Orlando. I also would add they may be good just relaxing at the pool and resort and doing some activities there and relaxing. They may want some down time. Your four year old may enjoy T-Rex in DTD and maybe the legos store? They also have mini-golf on site too. If you have a park ticket maybe something your son would like to revisit. But I am sure if it's warm enough they may enjoy swimming and relaxing at the resort.

They can go to Port Orleans and rent fishing poles, ride bikes, rent a boat or take a carriage ride. Take a hot air balloon ride at DTD and have lunch at T-Rex. Mini golf at Winter Summer Land at Blizzard Beach. Make an appointment at the Pirates League in MK for a pirate makeover.

Look into Fort Wilderness. There is tons of outdoorsy stuff offered over there.

I have done the fishing excursion and thought it was a lot of fun. I do think that a four year old is too young to really enjoy it. I would suggest miniature golf. I have fond memories of my father taking my 5 year daughter to play miniature golf at Disneyland. Of course, she wanted to do this at midnight, but that didn't stop him from taking her!

I second Pirates League! They can both get a made up like pirates and be in the pirate parade. It's so much fun!!

My niece and nephew enjoyed grandpa time by renting the boats at the resort. Looks like you have some great suggestions, I'm sure they will have a blast with whatever they do.

"The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains" tour is supposed to be great and may be appropriate for this kind of relationship. It is about 3 hours long.
