Has anyone ever stayed in a GV?

I'm just curious. We are planning a trip for mine and my brother's family next August (8/16-8/23). I am debating on renting points (individual rooms versus GV) or holding out to see if FD is offered. Will also have an AP, but I don't think I can rent 2 rooms with that.

So, back to my original question...anyone stayed in a GV? Would it be impossible to rent points and secure a ressie for GV?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks,
Carole

I have stayed in a GV in 2007. There were 12 of us and didn't seem crowded at all. We were new to DVC and that was our first stay. It was my daughter's wedding and my family came down for it and we all stayed in the GV. It was great.

You'll need to book that at 11 months out.

A GV will have one master bedroom with a king sized bed. There are two other bedrooms with either two queen beds or two double beds (OKW has one bedroom with two doubles, the other with two queens). Then there is a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room.

So the problem comes down to who gets the master bedroom with the king sized bed, jetted tub, standalone shower. And who get the room with two queen beds and a standard bathroom.

Sometimes a little separation works better.

You definitely need to find an owner as soon as possible because he or she will need to call MS in September of this year. Those GVs are hard to get, we have multiple DVC owners in our family and I know they go fast. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Okw gv 3 times and Bwv gv twice from 1999 to 2012. They are very nice. Large groups can be fun, we've had as many 20 people using the gv as the anchor room.

Thanks for the replies! We looked online last night and have decided that we can probably work with a 2 bedroom, more than likely at OKW. They appear pretty spacious and my brother's kids are under 3, so they will likely only need a pack-n-play. We might change our minds as the 11 month window approaches, and try for the GV at OKW. They look fabulous! :goodvibes

AKV, BLT and OKW two bedroom villas each have the sleeper chair, so they will sleep nine. Only one child under the age of three will not count towards occupancy.

I would always vote for a 2 bedroom or GV over standard rooms, even with AP discount, but I did want to tell you I THINK you are can book up to 3 rooms with one AP. I am not 100% certain though.
