Does anyone have experience staying in the Grand Villas at the Boardwalk, Saratoga Springs and /or Old Key West? We are thinking of booking one for a family get-together.

Also, does anyone know the number of GV units at each resort?

I would love to see a comparision of them all. The points needed at each resort for a GV varies considerably, as well. If anyone knows a link of reviews for them , please post it. Thanks, Bob

Coasterbob, I can only answer questions about the SSR GV. We stayed there 12/03/05-12/15/05. I believe there are 2 GV for every building at SSR. Any specific questions? Susan

we are looking at the same week next year: 12/2-12/9.......... nothing specific, just your overall impressions. There would be 6 adults (3 couples)......with my in-laws visting WDW for the 1st time in 33 years!

You can start putting in your reservation next week and I'd advise you to do so if you want the GV.

BW has the fewest GVs, only six, I think. Hope, OKW, SSR or BWV is your home resort.

yes, we are closing on SSR. Are the GVs at OKW that much differnet than SSR? The points needed are way less! Bob

But if your points are at SSR, you'll have to wait until 7 months out to try for that GV at OKW for a very popular time with DVC members. If you really want the GV for the first week of Dec, you probably should get your reservation in beginning next week, and maybe go day by day.

The OKW GV is great, and HUGE!!!!!! We have stayed in one a couple of times. The OKW GV, and believe the SSR GV as well, are 2 stories. I believe the GV at BWV is all on one floor...a ranch-style unit.

The space in a GV is great, especially if you have a big group.

ok the plan will be make a ressie at SSR next week....and then try (if we want) for a GV at OKW in May. Tanx everyone! :cool1:

We just stayed in one at OKW a few weeks ago and it was GREAT!!!

We stayed from Sunday to Friday and it was only 180 points. I had a friend, whose home is OKW, book it for me, day by day. I then transferred her the points.

Good luck...you will love it! :)

I booked SSR GV for DH and I, DD and SIL and 18 mo old, DD and SIL and 2 year old, and DS and DIL and 12 mo old. Do you think we'll be too cramped? I toyed with the idea of getting a 2 BR for the DD's and their families, and 2 studios for DH and I and DS and DIL etc.
What are any one's thoughts who has been there....
This is for a week - is this too much togetherness????

Hmmmm, how much time do you all plan on spending in the unit? Will there be daily nap breaks for the babies in the unit?

With 4 seperate families (3 of which have babies), and three bedrooms, I think there will be a lack of privacy, a clash of bedtime routines for the babies, etc...
If you can afford the points, I would book either a studio or a one bedroom for one of your DDs and her family. That way, everyone will have their own private bedroom, and can relax about not waking up each other, or each other's babies.

Sounds like a fun trip though. Have fun! :cool1:

bump.......looking for link where i can find # of GV's at each resort. Bob

Have seen more info on these boards about GVs and where they are located but don't know the link...hopefully someone will share. We stayed last month at a GV in OKW and it was incredible! Perfect for 6 women since we had 4 bathrooms! We wanted to all be together and the time sitting on the balcony or ahnging out in the kitchen together was wonderful. HOWEVER, with as many different families and with as many small children as you will have in your group, I'd want some separate space! I'd have to say, though, that the configuration of the OKW GV with two bedrooms up and one down would be my choice over a one floor layout...much more private and quiet.

i know there are only 7 GV's at the BWV. i believe 2 of them of 2 story, the rest one story, all BW view of course.

Have you looked at the 360 degree tours on the member website? You can get a pretty decent look at the different grand villas. (I looked--boy, one of those looks like it would be fun!!) :cool1:
