We own at SSR but I think I might like to stay in a Grand villa at OKW or BWV sometime - probably during early/mid Dec (adventure season). Is booking a grand villa at the 7month mark ever possible? It seems like there are so few I was wondering if this is the kind of situation where I'd need to trade or rent points in one of those resorts in order to book 11 months out. Any experience out there on this?
Thanks

BWV GV at that time will be hard to do at 7 months. You may have a better chance at OKW.

A couple of weeks ago we booked a BWV GV for 1 night in Feb. It was the last one and we only wanted the one night.

Thanks - I'm a little encouraged. I guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Book at GV at SSR at 11 months and then try to change it to OKW at 7 months. If it's not available, you'd still have a GV for your trip.

I would take Deb & Bill's advice and book SSR first. Just so you know there are only 7 GVs at the BWV. In 2004 we booked one for the second week in December and called day by day at the 11 month window.

Agreed, then call day by day at 7 months out exactly. Go on the wait list day by day for any that interest you. BWV will be tough just due to there only being a few of them. For weekends you should be OK, SSR and OKW will be easier but not easy to get.

I know it is not WDW but at the 7 month window we put ourselves on the waitlist for a Grand Villa at HH for June 26-30. We were on the automatic booking system. Last week when I was calling for a renter I decided to ask if anything opened and to my surprise all those dates opened. It kind of concernerd me that the computer sysytem did not get around to automatically booking for me so the MS booked it for me on the phone. I know that my family is disappointed because they were looking for forward to that mid-week room switch but sometimes you just get lucky. Darn after doing the room switch three times last year at WDW we finally had it down to a science. I guess we can stop having the home packing drills to prepare for vaction. :rotfl2:

If you look, you will see a thread on the Boards from a member that couldn't get a BWV GV in early December for all the nights she needed - and she was booking at 11 months!!

There are very few GVs andthat is one of the most popular weeks. I would take Deb's advice and book the GV at your home resort, try and switch later, and try to not be disappointed with the SSR GV. I hear they are awesome.

I once booked a GV at HHI only three months out for an October stay.

A friend at work was able to book a GV at OKW for the first week of April at under 6 months out. He then changed to only 2 nights there and the other 4 in a 2 BR last week so someone may have gotten that GV for the m-f days he changed. One of those cases where the people who were really excited about going at 7 months changed their minds or had something come up so he did the sensible thing and by cancelling the GV was able to add an extra day for those who could go. Wait lists do come through but as others have said the first weeks of December are tough to get.
