GRAND OPENING - GRAND CLOSING (Florida)

Weekend lag more applies to deaths than cases. I follow the numbers every day. It helps with my anxiety.

We are seeing a plateau in the hospitals near me. I haven’t had many cases reporting to me diagnosed. I’m hoping the worst is behind us.

I agree about weekend lag more on deaths. I think for Florida we are going to see the improving side soon. Now that doesn't mean other parts of the country won't see a spike, because I have heard many drs call it migratory, it just will keep bouncing around to a new area till it runs out of places to go which is when it will start to fall more into the seasonal pattern.

We're talking what, maybe 500-1000 tests per day? Is that really enough to make a significant difference?
Today Orange County reported results for just about 5500 tests. Yesterday it was 4600 tests. So depending on how many tests the NBA is running daily it could be making up anywhere from just about 10-20% of the daily total for Orange County which is fairly significant.

I'll give you that for the county. But isn't the state reporting 50k tests/day?

Yes, on a statewide level it is has a much smaller impact. But discussion in another thread about this earlier today was about how Orange County specifically has seen a drop in the percent of tests coming back positive.

I am following facts. I also live in Florida and all of Florida is not doing horribly.
I'm curious to know where you live. Those who are trying their best to downplay the situation in Florida overall are insulting to those of us who are doing horribly. We need more state support. I guess it's not happening as long as it's not happening to you.

Its the epicentre of the world for covid. You do realize that right?

Didn’t you know that covid doesn’t cross county lines?

We can all hope that the virus mysteriously disappears, but so far it shows no signs of doing that. There have also been no signs that it’s slowing down. But as long as we feel like it is, we’re good.

It's no different than using a Facebook post as a source. Anyone with an agenda can post anonymously on a message Board.

SO an anonymous post on reddit is taken at face value with nothing to back it up? Ok then :confused3

As it is on Reddit, I take it with a grain of salt. Especially the amount of sick employees at rides sounds unbelievably high.
However, I am quite sure that all CMs and other employees at Floridian theme parks have very strict rules regarding talking about procedures and percentage of people sick. And Disney will probably have the strictest rules of all.

I doubt it's fully true, but I can go with half true.

While I get your point, every single person to respond thus far has questioned it or said “if this is true” so I’m not sure where the “taking it at face value“ comes in. It likely has an agenda. Then again so do the theme parks with a multi billion dollar recovery at stake.

I agree. Even though it corroborates what I think must be going on at any theme park with employees coming down sick, one must read Reddit with a block of salt. It’s an interesting account ... if true ... but there is no way for us to know if the author is a real theme park employee or telling the truth.

If this is true I am truly disgusted at any park that is doing this. I can only imagine how many others have it but continue to work. No wonder cases are not dropping.

While I don't fully trust that source, there is in fact people working that have it everywhere. Many people that test go back to work till they get their results. I know a person was fired from our Mellow Mushroom because they wouldn't close down to clean after a couple workers tested positive and she blasted it on social media.
