Grand Floridian v. Ritz Carlton

Just booked the Kid's Suite for the 1st night of our trip next June. Thanks for the link. I'm so excited for the kids! I think they will love it! This has been a great thread.:Pinkbounc

The Grand Floridian is not deluxe..actually it is one of the most disappointing WDW resorts. I would go with the RC.

There is a great cigar shop/humidor and smoking area at City Walk in the Universal Resort area. My husband and son love it.

So others who may be more budget minded...I'll give you a tip. Granted, I know 4-star comes with a price (checked...Ritz isn't ranked a 5-star in Orlando)....and had considered going just one night then staying the Polynesian the rest of the trip...I have to first say that the telephone reservationists were beyond friendly and genuinely so. I have an aversion for those who are forced friendly and you can almost feel their alternative body language screaming at you over the phone...but I was very impressed with RC's phone folks. But, the price for the Kids Suite sent me for a whirl....$888 a night...and that's off season (January)....so we won't be swinging a night there...but will look at our rate at the deluxe Disney's as a posh alternative...albeit not the same attention to detail...however I think I can more make up for the detail with my enthusiasm and joy on our vacation.

Hope this helps!

Good for you!! Have fun.

we stayed at the club level, what a wonderful stay. It was my husband myself and my 4 yr old. Can't wait ti go back. Takes about an hour door to door to disney, and about 20min to universal. Any questions feel free.

I must drive faster then you. I was at Disney in between 20 to 30 minutes. (Get one of the Ritz guys to tell you how to avoid the Interestate, it was actually faster since the Interstate down near Disney is normally packed)

I have seen the Ritz rated 5 Star, I guess it depends on the rating agency you use. However, if both Disney and the Ritz are 4 stars the Ritz is getting ripped off.... Rack rates for regular rooms at the Ritz are not dramatically different from rack rates at the GF.

Take 417 (the Greenway) from MCO, and I-Drive S to WDW. 20 minutes max for either trip.

I did comment during an August meeting at the JW - 'ok look, a KID in the lobby!' since they were so rare at the time. (shortly after the resort opened)

(I love kids and my staff will call me out of my office to hand out toys to kids in the lobby)

Having said that, the Ritz and JW had some great family and kid oriented things in their Dec resort newsletter last year, like Teddy Bear picnics and carriage rides.

They will do a great job for you, don't worry!
