We are doing the afternoon tea and I was wondering since I really enjoy tea, do they just sell the tea so you can bring it home with you? I've looked at the different types on Allears and they sound so good.

If I enjoy it as much as I know I will, I would love to buy some to bring home.

1) It would be better to buy from the internet.
2) Grand Floridian only serves Fanning and Broken Orange Pekoe teas.
3) F and BOP are used because they infuse fast and release the liquor quickly.
4) Thus, far shorter prep and steeping time.
5) As tea lovers, and for our home, we want much better quality.

NOTE: The tastes of the F and BOP teas are good, but not deep and rich as one would want if they were brewing the tea themselves.

Thanks RustyScupper!!

constanze, I definitely would recommend an ADR. The lounge is not large and the tea is only a few hours per day.

Thanks! I'll definitely set up an ADR!...I just have to figure out how many...I'm a sucker for those hi teas:)

As soon as I can, I am going to reserve an afternoon to celebrate a friends birthday..as a surprise..6 of us will know about it...so that will be exciting to keep it a secret from her:)

Tinkerdreams:

1) When you order tea on the web, brands are important.
2) However, the grade of tea is more often the main point.
3) We like GFOP or higher.

Tea Grades: A Short Primer -

These black tea grades are somewhat subjective and can vary from region to region. A couple of things to note: Pekoe is pronounced peck-oh, and there is no orange flavouring in any of these teas. Pekoe is not a floavor, but a grade (don't try to figure it out, just believe). For the most part, the more intitials, the better the tea quality.

Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (FTGFOP)
. . . extremely high quality TGFOP.

Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (TGFOP)
. . . similar to GFOP
. . . with an even higher proportion of golden tips

Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (GFOP)
. . . a higher quality tea
. . . includes the golden tips of the young buds leaves.

Flowery Orange Pekoe (FOP)
. . . similar to OP
. . . used for teas
. . . from the rest of India or other regions.

Orange Pekoe (OP)
. . . A good quality tea
. . . consisting of large leaf pieces
. . . used for teas from Sri Lanka or south India

Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) Tea
. . . many small or broken pieces of leaves
. . . frequently used in restaurants

Fannings / Dust
. . . iny bits and pieces
. . . usually leftovers from processing
. . . commonly found in tea bags

wow Rusty, that is really interesting! My husband and I are starting to drink more and more tea and that is really good information, I had no idea there was such a hierarchy of teas!
