Grand Floridian Tea - Note The Chef's Accommodations Here

As you may have guessed from my post last week or so, we did a stay at the Grand Floridian recently. During the Chef's Table post (here if you missed it: https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...efs-table-victoria-alberts-slideshow.3632851/) lots of people asked me about accommodations/changes at Chef's Table if they didn't like seafood, etc. To that I responded, just ask. With Chef's Table you will have that chance in advance when they call about 5-7 days out). With other restaurants, you can't always do so. But I definitely wanted to post this video too because it gives a great example of Disney's caring, magical touch.

Quick background: I myself cannot eat soft breads (think Wonder Bread, Bunny Bread, or whatever your PB&J sandwiches are usually made from). I'm not allergic, but I have swallowing issues with them (I don't have this issue with, say, french bread, biscuits, or other "firmer" or "crumbly" breads).

I asked our tea waiter, were there any other options that I might have -- fully expecting the answer to generally be no, not in this case where limited options are available kitchen wise. But, instead the chef sent out all the spreads (he diced in cucumbers or roasted peppers where needed and mixed in), and served far more food than I deserved in what was still a stunning presentation and event.

You can see that about halfway through the slideshow.

For the record we did the "base" $35 package. Which is one pot of tea per person, finger sandwiches (or in my case otherwise, scones and tarts, and desserts).

I do not like tea (it was tolerable), but even I enjoyed this experience and my wife loved it (and she got extra tea thanks to me).

I've done the tea twice and really enjoyed the experience. While it doesn't surprise me that they accommodated you, I'm really glad they were able to!

I think it's safe to say, if Disney can, they will. I know it's certainly easy to complain about Disney doing things that many of us do not enjoy or have become used to, but there's no question that they generally do try their best if you just ask.

I reached out to Disney afterwards in one of the surveys we got, and told them how great the Chef was. They mentioned to please always ask if there's any doubt. That for me, or anyone, they'll always do their best to accommodate their guests. I do agree that this was a perfect, simple example of them doing so.
