If you think a thread needs the attention of a mod, use the Report Post button under the poster's name. It's the little white triangle with a red border and an exclamation point in the middle. That will send an e-mail to all moderators of that board, and the admins.

We can't be on the boards 24/7, and we can't read every single post, so sometimes we're not aware that a thread is going south until one of you lets us know.
