Okay - just back from my trip. The Grand Floridian Poolside Patio at the Aquatic Play Area (splash pad) was a huge hit. We loved it. Group consisted of 8 people including adults, 20-somethings, teens and younger kids. I booked the patio for a Saturday and we LOVED having a dedicated area with shade that would accommodate all of us, with all of our various pool bags and gear. When we went down to the pool at around 11, both pools were crowded. We'd have been lucky to get 2 chairs together. 8 would have been out of the question. The patio included a table with 4 chairs, 2 loungers, a big sectional sofa and 2 large umbrellas (access to shade is a pool "must" for me). Included was a big cooler with plenty of bottled water, Coke, Sprite and a basket of various chips/snacks including Lays Potato Chips, Chex Mix, Pretzels and Doritos. I'd been a bit leery of the location being at the splash pad, but it was perfect. The kids loved the splashpad play area (as did the teens and 20's to be honest... they'd let the kids spray them with the spray hoses). At various times, family members would go off to the Courtyard pool or the Beaches pool for a swim, then come back to relax at our poolside patio area. The Cast Members who worked that area were great, and checked in often for drink/food orders. We were just steps away from the Beaches pool bar, so it would have been easy to run over for a drink or Mickey Bar, but we never needed to. Late afternoon, a brief thunderstorm rolled through and the pools closed. We were heading back to our room anyway, so we didn't mind. What interested me is that I received a phone call from the Resort Activities staff notifying me immediately when the pool re-opened so that we could return to our poolside patio. I had been very "iffy" about renting this poolside patio, but found it a great value for my large group and would definitely do it again. I was honestly surprised at how much I liked it.
