Grand Floridian Dining Reviews-WANTED

Hey Everyone,

I just found out we'll be staying at the Poly instead of Wilderness Lodge for our upcoming trip in January, hence I will want to change an abundance of our ADR's for monorail restaurants. I am familiar with Poly but the only restaurant we have ate at the GF is 1900 Park Fare breakfast. I am interested to hear more about the other restaurants. Any reviews would be well appreciated!

We love Narcossee's but thats the only one we have dined at. It was wonderful in June and we are returning in Oct. We also enjoy the Cali Grill. We are at the Poly in Oct and we are trying to keep all ADR's on the monrail loop except for the Crystal Palace and Boma. You could also boat from the Cont to the WL for Artist Point.

I agree with the California Grill as a suggestion, we love it there. The food is great, the view can't be beat and watching Wishes from that vantage point is wonderful!!! We've been to Floridian Cafe several times and had very good food each time. The fish of the day is what I love to order - always fresh and delicious and very good French Onion Soup!!!

Citricos is excellent and V&A is in a class by itself.

I never miss an opportunity to go to V&A...staying at the GF would be just another opportunity not to miss!!

The GF Cafe has a Cobb salad which must rival the talked-about one in MGM...also the reuben sandwich is delicious!
We've never had dinner there, so can't recommend anything on that menu.
Never eaten at Citrico's or Narcoosee's either...we just keep gravitating to the Cafe.

When we stayed at the GF we tried a few of them. Here's my two cents:

Citrico's...hands down, our favorite of them all. Nice atmosphere, great food.

Narcoosee's...good food, but not spectacular. We're from New England so we may be a little spoiled when it comes to seafood. The view was great though, we booked during Wishes so we could watch from the deck, and that was great.

California Grill....this one was good too, almost a tie with Citrico's. Again, a good location for fireworks if you're there for them. One drawback is you're forced to wait in the lobby (downstairs) before making your way up...we had a hard time finding it, and then had to wait for them to allow us up the elevator. Not a good first impression, but very good food!

GF Cafe...awful, awful, awful! Let me tell you how bad it was...our meal was comped and they offered us $100 credit to come back and try it again...and we turned it down. That's how bad it was! Mediocre food and TERRIBLE service. We did have a new waiter, so that was part of it...but the place was empty and everything that could go wrong, did. Again, just our experience.

We've enjoyed all four GF restaurants many times. Whoops...forgot 1900 Park Fare in that count. We've only had dinner there once years ago and breakfast once recently so can't give a fair review on 1900.

Anyway, as jw50 said, V&A is in a class by itself. It is wonderful.

Citricos is usually excellent and often relatively quiet for a WDW restaurant. Mediterranean inspired menu.

Narcoossee's enjoys an absolutely beautiful view of Seven Seas Lagoon. Seafood is the specialty and we enjoy it very much although find the prices high even for WDW. Probably our DDs favorite WDW dinner restaurant.

All three are normally dinner only. Right now Citricos is also serving breakfast and lunch while 1900 is refurbished. The B & L menus are similar/identical to the usual GF Cafe menu. This lasts until sometime around the beginning of October.

GF Cafe is a favorite of ours for lunch. It offers a nice selection of sandwiches, soups, salads and a few entrees. The view is of the GF courtyard. It's a sunny bright and elegant room. I love the Cobb salad and the Reuben. Others in my family enjoy the burgers and the shrimp entree. We've only had dinner there a couple of times but the food has been very good. Service seems slower at dinner. But unitl October, GF Cafe is hosting a preplated character meal at breakfast and dinner and is closed at lunch.

When staying at the Polynesian, we absolutely love dining at the GF. It is fun to take the monorail to the GF and either walk or take the launch back to the Polynesian. It is also fun to take the launch from The MK to the GF for lunch.

Love the CG too and it is a must do every trip for my family.

And don't forget Kona. It is excellent for all three meals.

Lunch at the GF Cafe is excellent. Older ds loves the broiled tilapia. It's very buttery and citrus-y tasting. I really like the The Grand sandwich, which is served open-faced. It's turkey, ham, bacon, tomato, cheese sauce, and yummy onion straws. My younger kids love the PB sandwiches here, because they can get them with bananas. This is a great place for a quiet meal.

I cannot recommend the GF Cafe, years ago it was wonderful, but the last few times we have eaten there it has been noisey, messy looking and food and service just not good.

I do love Citrico's and can recommend that for a lovely dinner, they are only open certain nights, but service and food is one of the best on property in our opinion.

Oh, how could I have neglected to mention that sandwich!? It is our DD's favorite thing in WDW I think. I enjoy it once in a while too. It is delicious but I can't afford the calories. She can!

Mackey Mouse, how was it messy? I can see a buffet being messy but have never seen GF Cafe messy in the least. It's never been loud when we've dined there either. Seriously, we've probably had lunch there 30 times over the years and it's never been loud. 1900 is loud though even in passing by the rear roped off part. Sorry to hear you had bad experiences.

Citricos serves W-Sunday last I knew. Dark only on Monday and Tuesday. Probably not at all for the next month until 1900 opens again but that's a guess.

Thank you very much for all of your responses. We have made ADR's for Citricos, the 1900 Park Fare breakfast and we're considering making reservations for either Narcosse's or the California Grill. I should mention that we are newly-weds and are going for romance...we've eaten at CG before and had a somewhat positive experience but we're not really into a loud atmosphere and we don't really like art-deco.
