Grand Floridian - Deluxe Concierge - Any Pics?

Hi.
My daughter and I stayed in a GF Deluxe concierge room last August. But it was a KING bedroom. I requested, and was given, a "Honeymoon Turret room". Not sure whether your room is a King or not but hopefully the pics will be of interest either way. The photo you saw is not what the rooms look like anymore. They were renovated last year.

That's cool. But correct me if i am wrong, but you mentioned that that is the honeymoon turret suite. So i'm kinda of confused. Did you request a Deluxe and receive a honeymoon?

Also, as for the pics of the deluxe concierge room, i found some room layout pics by Tammi McMannis but i could not find any other pictures. Does anyone know of any other locations. I seem to be coming up dry. Also, does anyone know the room size of the deluxe concierge room? i would think it would be around 550-600sq ft but i don't know if i am way off

thx
Jason

I said it wrong. My room was a deluxe concierge room, just what you said you might be booking. Although my room was a KING Deluxe Concierge room, which is its own category. If you have a deluxe concierge room, that will be 2 queen beds.

Anyway, my room is the same price as yours, maybe $10 more per night. It was not a true "suite" as far as what Disney calls it. Now I'm confusing myself! Sorry:headache:

Check out this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=513058
within that thread there are links to other info about the deluxe concierge rooms.
Good luck.

Seriously? Where was it located. It looks, based on the windows, that that is in a turret. Is that correct? Or do all the DC rooms have the rounded window view?

It is a turret. I'm just saying that there is not a Turret booking category. They are King Deluxe Concierge. I had read about these rooms on the Dis for years and knew that I could request one and so I did. I believe there are 6 of them, 3 having views of the Castle and 3 having views of the Poly, Wedding Pavilion and GF's waterfall pool. I got the Poly/WP/pool view. We were very happy there! There are other Deluxe Concierge rooms that are NOT turret rooms. They are the "regualr" room shape, have whirlpool tubs and less square footage.
If you wanted a Turret Room you would need to
A) Book a Concierge Deluxe King room at GF
B) Request through Itinerary Planning that you get a "Turret room"

Unfortunately, sometimes when Disney tries to simplify things, they only succeed in causing confusion. Those "king deluxe rooms" used to be referred to as "honeymoon suites". There is a dedicated wing on the 2nd floor, which all have king beds, sitting areas, whirlpool tubs and a balcony with a castle view. There are also 6 rooms spread out on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floor. These also have king beds, but come with the palladium windows, no balcony, standard tubs and are much larger. Maximum occupancy is 2 and you can request either style, it's just based on availability when you check in.

There are only 6 of the standard deluxe rooms. If you saw my layouts, four of them are option 1 designs and two of them are option 2 designs. Maximum occupancy in these rooms is 4 guests (over the age of 3).

Here is an older thread that gives you room numbers and post #10 has more pictures. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1564374

Hope that helps.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures but we've stayed in a Deluxe Concierge room( 2 queens) twice.

The rooms are bigger and there is a wet bar type area ( where a wall would be in a standard room) which has a fridge, sink and a counter where the coffee maker,etc.is. It is hidden by 2 closet type doors.

The room itself is bigger and there is a little hallway that separates the main room from the bathroom. If you come in the door, the bathroom is to your left and is bigger than a standard bathroom. If you go to the right there is a hallway which leads to the room with the beds, armoire, etc. just like a standard room. The hallway has a mirror with a shelf which is nice for getting your stuff organized for the day or to let someone else get ready in the a.m.

There are no castle views but both times we've had beautiful views of the Theme pool and the monorail as it goes/ comes from the Poly!
We really enjoyed both of these rooms!:)

I just booked the DC for next May. I got the room!

Weird though, until the true rates are in the system, they are charging the "Holiday" rates for right now which is $920 a night...geez!

What is the increase per year? It's $760 right now. I doubt it would go past $800 for next year. What do you think?

Also, does AllEars keep the pricing for years back? I'd like to see the increase over time.

Hmm..Is there an easy way to specify which of the two styles of CD you want? I like the one with the bigger balcony.

The easiest way is to put in your request with IPO. They should contact you about 6 months out from your vacation. If they don't, feel free to drop them an e-mail. Good luck with your request.

Thanks tammi.

Do these CD rooms have sleep sofas? I've read somewhere that they don't but i dont know if this is true.

Thanks,
J

Since Disney only allows 4 guest (over the age of 3) in the deluxe concierge room, I believe they do NOT have a sleeper sofa. I am not 100% sure, but since these room category only allows 4, it seems the sleeper sofa would be a waste of sleeping space!
Congrats on booking your room! This category can be hard to come by!

Seems to make a lot of sense that they would, but unfortunately, it's just a regular couch. The other resorts with the "deluxe" category offer extra bedding (to sleep 6). I'm not sure why the GF doesn't.

Thanks Tammi. That kinda stinks.

I noticed that your layouts didnt include the turret style. Maybe i am confusing myself but i thought that someone on the first page said that they had a CD with a turret in it. Is that right?

On my room layouts page, the honeymoon suites, aka "king deluxe" are the last ones on the page. You can see the two different styles.

Option 1 of the king deluxes ~
6 in total
located on floors 3, 4 & 5 of the main building
3 have panoramic views from the monorail around to the beach
3 have panoramic views from the wedding chapel aroung to the castle
no balconies
no whirlpool tubs
I would guess close to 700 square feet

Option 2 of the king deluxes ~
9 or 10 in total
located on the 2nd floor (a little bit longer walk to the club lounge)
all have castle views
all have balconies
all have whirlpool tubs
same size as a standard room

You cannot book a particular option, just put in a request.
