Grand Floridian Cafe

maybe we will have a real recent one.....I know someone that ate there last night.....so I will get in touch with the person and fine out.

We ate there last August. That was our second time (and we are going back over spring break!!). We thought the food was good, with a great selection for every taste. It has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere and the service was great!!!

We stayed at the GF and ate at the GF Cafe one morning for breakfast. The food is good (I felt it was basic and satisfying) and the service is friendly and efficient. A great option for a day that you want to be in and out faster than a character breakfast. I would place it as a restaurant between the table service and counter service levels...not super fancy but better than CS, good food, efficient service, and friendly.

The restaurant has a light airy feel to it and it is nice if you can get seating by the windows.

We would definately go back again!:thumbsup2

Based on reviews on the Dis, I was a little nervous about eating there earlier this month, but it ended up being one of our favorites! The service was great and friendly (although a little pretentious, which our waiter hinted at is what people who eat there want). I've never seen a manager walk around a Disney restaurant before, but we were visited by one and saw him around a lot!

My hubby had the French Onion Soup, which he really liked. We both had the NY strip entrée, and I would go back there just for the mashed potatoes that came with it! Amazing! I think GFC will probably become one of our regulars.

We've kind of speculated about why reviews seem so bad on here, and we wonder if it's being overshadowed by Citricos and Narcoossee's. :confused3 Do people expect more because it's at the GF? I'm not ashamed to say that it was the second most "fancy" dinner I've ever eaten. The maître d' doesn't push in your chair at Cracker Barrel! :rotfl:

We ate dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe in August, 2009. It was our anniversary so we sent our kids off to Planet Hollywood (don't worry, they are 22 and 12) and we went to dinner by ourselves.

The resort itself is beautiful and I was a bit sad that we didn't have more time to look around a bit before our ADR time. The restaurant staff was very friendly and our waitress was attentive. The waitress brought out a basket of rolls and some butter while we were waiting for our steaks to come out. They were the crusty type rolls and we prefer the soft kind. But, that being said, the insides were quite good.

Our steaks were done just like we ordered and were seasoned well. My steak came with fingerling potatoes which were just a little bit salty on the outside but still good. My husband's steak came with au gratin potatoes and they were good also. The only part of our meal that we didn't like were the green beans. I did see that everybody else around us were eating the beans so it must have just been us.

We weren't sure what kind of desser to order and our waitress suggested we get the celebration sampler plate. It had four small portions of the different desserts offered on their menu. Since we were on the dining plan, the sampler plate counted as two desserts.

I'd definitely go back to the Grand Floridian Cafe and even had an ADR booked there for our upcoming trip. I had to take it out of our lineup though so that I could fit the luau in somewhere.

Really? Off the top of my head, on our last trip, the manager came by our table at Narcoossee's, Jiko, Mama Melrose's, Boma, and Kouzzina. Also at Wolfgang Puck Express and Columbia Harbour House.

We had breakfast there in August and dinner there on Xmas eve. Both times food and service were excellent. We are returning there for dinner this August. I would probably not make a special trip to eat there but if you're anywhere on the monorail loop it's worth it.

We ate lunch there two weeks ago, January 11th. Service was a little slow because our table seemed to be somewhat separated from the rest of our server's section, but he was kind and attentive when he did come by. I had a delicious orecchiette pasta dish and my boyfriend had the Grand Floridian burger, which he said was messy but well worth the effort it took to eat it. We'll probably go there for breakfast and dinner on future trips because it ended up being one of our favorite -- and most economical -- table service lunches.

My experience is limited, having only eaten there once for a lunch, but I thought the atmosphere was light and casual, and my food was fantastic. We had a dozen ADRs on our last trip to WDW and my Grand Floridian burger was easily one of the best things I ate over the the course of that trip.

At the very least, it's worth a shot.

Of the TS you listed, Mama Melrose is the only one I've been to, but no manager then. This was my fourth trip but first manager sighting. My husband has been more, and never remembered having a manager come to the table. Maybe we stink or something

We have been there twice for dinner and both times our meals and service were terrific. DH had the steak and I had the salmon, which may just have been the best salmon I've ever had, and not just at WDW. DH is diabetic and had the berry pyramid for dessert; I had the chocolate fondue. Both were wonderful. I also think GFC's got some of the best desserts on Disney property. Yum! It's definitely on our go-to list.

And we must stink too, because GFC is the only restaurant where we've ever had the manager come around to speak w/us (and believe me, we've eaten at plenty of WDW restaurants in the last 10 years, including Cali Grill).

We ate there in Oct. It was nice to see the Grand Floridian the food was ok. Hubby said his steak was good. I had the Tuna which was ok. Might eat there again and might not.

We went there over our Thanksgiving vacation this year. We walked up around lunch time and were seated probably within 30 minutes. I think of the four of us, 3 of us had the Grand Floridian burger. It was soooo incredibly good! :goodvibes

We had excellent service and enjoyed it so much that later that week, we ended up going again. We visited at lunchtime again, with no reservation. This time the service was maybe not as good as the first time, but the food was just as wonderful! I think the second time I opted for hamburger rather than the Grand Floridian burger. It was still very good!

Also to add to this... My father was one of the people we were travelling with and he's very very picky!!! He enjoyed his meal so much which is saying a lot for this place! We enjoyed that it was rather quiet and more like a place to eat than a Disney experience.
