Can anyone give me their opinion? We've been trying for Kona, but it's been booked solid for the last 2 weeks for Dec. 15th for dinner. All that we could get was the Grand Floridian Cafe. I know MickeyNikki (LOVE her reviews) liked it - so it must be good, just wondering what others thought as well. Last time we ate there was on our honeymoon and we vowed to NEVER eat there again. So hopefully it's better now.

Thanks!

We had dinner there in Sept and loved it. I had steak and DH had salmon. My steak came with the best tasting mashed potatoes that I've ever eaten and the fondue for dessert was really yummy.

We had maybe a ten minute wait with our ADR. The food and service were outstanding. The restaurant is very pretty and was also quiet. I would definately eat there again.

We had lunch there in June. We usually enjoy the food and the atmosphere there, but our last trip we were disappointed. The food and service was not that good.

I have been there many many times...it was always a quick place to eat when all the other places were booked. In the past it was hit or miss and I have had many a free meal from there just because it was that bad...I didn't even complain...the managers recognised it...at any rate the last few times i have been and since the last menu change everything has been better. I don't know if they had other changes in the background we don't know about or what but the CM's are better and seem happier, the food is better ( although I miss the prime rib), and the all around experience is better! So my 2 cents is give it a try! The fondue is excellent my son and I always fight over the strawberries lol...the last time the server brought out extra!
I hope you enjoy and have a great time at WDW!!!

I also wondered if the GF Cafe was good. My family is thinking about eating breakfast there on our next trip.

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1928776&page=5 There's the link to her view. In case the link doesn't work, go back up to her post and click on her August reviews, then it's page 5. Her reviews are great.

Thank you to everyone else. I guess I won't worry so much about not getting Kona. I appreciate your help!

Thanks for the link. And thanks to MickeyNicki, great review!

I just noticed something interesting on the menu but have never heard anyone mention it before. Has anyone ever tried the Grand Floridian Burger? It says it has lobster on it!? Would love to hear more.

I am debating between eating there for lunch or for dinner. I'm leaning toward dinner because I want to order the shrimp penne pasta and it's not on the lunch menu. But it seems like it used to be on the lunch menu. Has anyone ever been able to order something off the dinner menu at lunch time? Thanks

Someone else just asked about the GF Burger on a separate post. DH had it this past trip (I don't eat lobster) and he thought it was great. His only suggestions is don't but ketchup on it b/c it's more like eating steak & lobster but on a bun. If you like lobster you should try it.

As for the GF Cafe in general, I don't think you can go wrong. DSis and I ate at Kona for Dinner and Breakfast this past trip and DH, DD and I ate at Kona for dinner on our last trip and it was good but not at 'polynesian' as one would expect. I think it is also very loud at Kona too. We really liked the experience and the food but the GF Cafe is now our 'go to' restaurant.

DSis and I ate lunch at the GF Cafe on our last day and since we had extra TS credits we asked if they would make us lunch to go so we would have something to eat on the plane. The staff was so helpful and wonderful and packed it so well that hours later I was still eating Disney food as I flew home. Mmmmm! Worked out great too b/c I have a food allergy and wouldn't have been able to get anything at the airport.

You will not be disappointed at the GF Cafe!

My DH and I had lunch there on our Disneymoon! We both really enjoyed it. But we don't plan on eating there again next time. Only because there are several other places we would like to try. :goodvibes

It's totally underrated. Go and enjoy. (and don't tell anyone!)

The GF Cafe also has a great breakfast. I make sure its on my ADR list every year ;)

Our family ate there at the end of October. The shrimp and penne pasta meal was good (could have been hotter temperature-wise but warm enough not to complain). The GF Burger was WAY undercooked, My husband did not send it back (I would not have eaten that way) and ended up sick a couple of hours later. It just was really rich and saying it was rare seems like an understatement. I think it just didn't sit right. My sons chicken tenders had incredibly too much garlic on them. The reason I'm saying try it, though, is because a lot of people really seem to like it. We could have been the exception where a couple of the things we ordered weren't up to par, but most people get better meals. And their desserts are REALLY good!
