Hello,
this is my first time on the DVC-Board - as you see I am mostly lurking. So please forgive me if I ask something wrong or say something wrong and please, please no flames.
My sister and I are DVC-Members at Old Key West. We love DVC - during a vacation in 1992 a friend took us on a tour at the Old Key West and we fell in love. Never thought we would be able to own our "own piece of Magic", but miracles happen.
Now - we never tried to book anywhere else (we are from Germany and due to english not being our mother language we try to keep reservations simple). But next year is a special year (birthday-wise) and we plan a long vacation at WDW. We always wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian and now we have enough points to do so (I know that it might not be a wise decision to use points for the Grand Floridian, but we could not pay cash for it).
I've tried to make a reservation for April 27th 2008 until May 2nd 2008 with Member Services yesterday and was told, that there is only a opening at the Contemporary right now and that I should call back.
I am a bit confused right now - can somebody please give me an advice when I should call again (daily, in a week, a month ....?). Does anyone have experiences with trying to book the Grand Floridian with points? Could it be that there never will be an opening?
