Hey All, I am thinking of buying VGF DVC to use every 2 years during the July 4th week. I know it's 10 months out now but I noticed July 3rd and 4th were taken for a studio already for next year. I wanted to make sure that July 4th week is easy to get at 11 months for VGF studio, can anyone confirm their experience?

No guarantee unless you buy a fixed week contract which may not be offered any more. You are competing with other owners who want studios.

I own a fixed week Lake View for week 26, which is usually July 4. I have never used it as a fixed week, however. I usually use the points for Christmas and March.

I personally would not buy VGF if my intent was to usually get studios unless you are buying a set week. Disney created a serious problem when it set up VGF. Prior to VGF going on sale, and after BLT (the last resort built at WDW before VGF) was essentially sold out, Disney raised the price per point of its resorts by close to 40% over a less than two year period. It was a set up to make VGF look like a bargain when it finally went on sale for $150 per point in 2012 to new purchasers, which was less than the greatly inflated price of BLT at the time (thus creating the illusion of VGF being a bargain). Moreover, the actual price of VGF was even greater in comparison to BLT because it had a point structure that charged on average signicantly more points per night for standard amd lake view than BLT did.The effect is that VGF got far more purchasers that could only buy enough points to get studios than any other prior resort -- any of the points applicable to larger rooms could be sold to those purchasing only enough to get studios. In other words, Disney legally oversold the studios, and to add insult to injury it created only 47 studios and those are part of 2BR lock-offs and thus could also be taken by those desiring 2BRs.

The result is that you have too many VGF members chasing reservations for the number of studios available. Currently, for the time you are talking about, VGF studios have been available at 11 months out, and that is generally true during DVC's off-season at WDW which runs from mid-Jan to late Sep; However, for the late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan period, DVC's high demand period at WDW, the studios have had issues at times of either being gone before 11 months out or disappearing so fast at 8 a.m. exactly 11 months that many owners have been blocked out from reserving a studio. Although that problem has not surfaced for the off-season, even then you can often not delay much beyond the 11 month window to make a reservation.

Listen to Drusba. Great analysis. 1 beds can be secured at VGF pretty easy off season at even 7 months. It's a bun fight for studios at 11 in busy periods.

Add to the mix, the growing rental market for studios, especially at the DVC resorts on the monorail.

I would love for Disney to adjust their future plans to reflect newer trends in what DVC owners want. I am an old time owner, 1995, originally at OKW and later sold to buy direct at BCV when that opened. (Sitting tight at just those 200 BCV points). Our reason for buying was solely to book 2BR villas, we had 4 kids and were renting 2 hotel rooms for any trips. We only went every other year in the beginning, too.

But now, they clearly need more studios. So many people are putting 5 in the studios, and even 6 if one is under 3. When we bought in, I do not think people were doing that, nor did they want to. But it seems to me like DVC was relatively more affordable at that time. They also should consider building 1BR with 2 bathrooms that sleep up to 6 (and I would make them slightly less points than booking 2 studios.). They need something in between the 1BR and 2BR, just my opinion.

My "kids" are all grown now, so I usually book 1BRs or studios. This is another strain on the studios, many long time owners like me, who used to only book 2BR, now fit in the studios.
