I have been trying to decide what to do in Grand Cayman. We really enjoyed St. John on the Eastern itinerary because we did it on our own. We just went and spent the day on an uncrowded beach, snorkeling and swimming. I am looking for the same type of thing on Grand Cayman.

Has anyone been to West Bay Public Beach? How was it? I also read on the Cayman Island web site that snorkeling and the beach are nice at Cemetary Beach - West Bay. Would that be the same place? If anyone has been to this (or any other) beach on Grand Cayman, would you please share your experiences??
THANKS!

hello I was just in Grand Cayman on a Rci ship last week . We went to a beach along 7mile beach right across the street from the holiday inn Not sure what the name is but it is free and if you want drinks foods ect you can get it there ,Not sure about restrooms or showers did not see any near the beach they did have chairs you rent ,jet skis .There were maybe about 40 people there so Not real crowded but not real private either . The snorkling was not good not much to see but the beach, sand and water were good . Someone that eve said Cemetary beach was good But i don't know if they charge or not . 2 years ago we went to a beach along 7 mile beach but there was a charge to get to the public beach and it was no better then the free beach . Have fun no matter what you do .

Thanks - that's actually the web site where I read about West Bay public beach and snorkeling at Cemetary beach. I was just hoping for some first hand info from someone who had been to one of them. It was a really helpful web site - good descriptions of the beaches!
