We won a trip to Phoenix in September and are hoping to do a one day tour of the Grand Canyon. I'm thinking we might splurge and go with a tour guide, but was wondering if anyone could either recommend one of the companies or know if they have any discounts available. I've searched many sites, but they all seem to be in the same general price range - give or take a few $$ -and I haven't seen any discounts or specials on them.

The dis is my "go to" board for answers for many questions I have! I know someone can usually help me.

We haven't been to the North Rim, but we just went to the South Rim (where you'd hit first from Phoenix), and you definitely don't need a tour guide to figure out how to see everything! We were gone from home [north Phoenix] for less than 12 hours including a sit down dinner and we felt like we saw everything at a very leisurely pace, and even hiked down Bright Angel Trail [main trail] for a bit.

We spent a big fat $25 to get into the park and $2 on postcards. Why not keep the trip free? :goodvibes

We are flying into Phoenix in a couple of weeks and renting a car. We will then drive to Sedona, stay and tour for 6 days then drive to GC, stay 2 nights, then drive back to Phoenix. I know there are lots of tours that leave from Sedona, Vegas, Flagstaff and Williams. There must be a few that leave from Phoenix as well. The Grand Canyon Railroad experience out of Williams came very highly recommended, but we wanted to spend more time in the Grand Canyon than that trip allowed. And it was a bit pricey. Our family that did it said it was amazing and so much fun!

We took a Pink Jeep tour from Sedona to the Grand Canyon. They did a great job, we saw what we wanted, and the price was reasonable.

my dad took us on the grand canyon railraod experince and that was really fun. I hear rideing the donkeys down the grand is really fun I dont know what company. the squirles at the grand canyon are beggers if you have food they will follow you its really funny. on our last trip this lady was sitting on a bench that goes in a circle around a tree her and the squirle kept moveing around it in a circle.:rotfl2: everyone else knew better then to sit on the bench.
