Grand Californian - WOW!

My wife and I just returned from a lovely 3 days in California. We used our points to stay at the GCV (studio). All I can say is WOW! DVC finally got it right. Room decor was excellent. Construction quality was by far the best (I guess they learned after the Boardwalk fiasco). Furniture was upscale.

We also took the chance to review the Hawaiian DVC models. Looks like they are taking their GVC success overseas. Quality and room layouts are outstanding!

We have not been there...yet. But, we have our 2011 trips booked, but 2012 looks promising for VGC (if we can get availability at 7 months out). Our WDW AP's run out, so we will let them lapse and possibly do SoCal in 2012!

So glad you enjoyed your stay OP! I have to say I am one of those that continually gushes about VGC as well! I cannot say enough good things about it and so want to own there someday just because I love it that much!!

We have stayed on both the hotel and DVC of the GC and although I really did love the hotel, the Villas are simply gorgeous and I love the lay out, decor and general vibe of the place.

I have to agree Disney has a winner there and cannot wait until we can return!

Did you make an appointment with a guide, or are there open house hours where as an existing member you can tour by yourself?

We were able to score 4 nights at VGC in a studio for this July. I am so excited. We really debated going earlier in the summer, but the fact I could get 3 consecutive nights in late July [4th night just came through] tipped the scale. Thanks to all the dis'ers who helped me with my decision.

We were told to drop by between 9am and noon (which we did). Someone then walked us through.

Being a renter-psuedo DVC, we just love the GCH villas. We will be staying there again this August for a week of total enjoyment.

I just stayed there as well for my first "real" Disneyland vacation. I agree with the gushing posts. It is a beautiful resort and is conveniently located near the parks and Downtown Disney. I have a newfound love of DLR and can't wait to return! Fortunately it's easier with DVC.

We totally agree at the Grand Cali - handsdown our favorite Disney Resort!

Last trip I grabbed a few extra minutes to relax on one of the pool chaise (and can we reflect that a very nice man brought me a bloody mary or two -life is so good). Those chaises are so comfortable we would love to snitch two for our megga aft balcony on our next Explorer of the Seas cruise!!! With those, I would just sleep on the balcony for 12 days!!!

I agree totally! We made our first family trip to DLR last summer and LOVED it all, especially VGC! We are definitely looking forward to returning in a couple of years when they finish Carsland at DCA.
