We went late January and the room service at the grand Californian was horrible … I would be waiting on hold just to order for no less than 20 to 40 mins and then they always had a 1hr delivery time ugh we were always eating at like 9 10 even 11pm at night it was ridiculous especially the insane prices you pay at that hotel for a suite a night you would think you would get your own butler and gold plated food lol The food was amazing when we actually got it however ordering and getting the food was a whole different story. We are planning a return trip in late May of this year and want to know what other peoples experiences have been as well? Also, room service is only available from 6am to 11am and then 5pm to midnight.

I stayed at GCH not too long ago maybe around that time and while peak times you described for room service were hard to get a hold of at times , working in a much smaller hotel years ago pre covid , can still be multiple factors at work. Believe it or not the times you described are actually peak room service times. After people are back from the parks and relaxed is when they tend to ramp up orders not traditional meal times aside from breakfast in my experience.

Don't mistake this observation for making excuses for them , but trying to provide some insight.
Also during that time I believe it had returned not too long beforehand so possibility of demand vs supply could be a factor.
1 hour delivery times are absolutely NORMAL for room service in most hotels. The reason being is that on top of room service orders the kitchen they are using is used for other means , such as a bar and grill at the Marriott I worked at. Then have to have a server bring the order up , consider how many other people may be doing the same , the hotel is quite large and long hallways , just multiple factors to consider and working behind the scenes gave me an appreciation.

I had the BEST food here that was better than GCH Craftsman Bar though think they use the same kitchen maybe ? LOL.

I was on the phone for over 35 minutes just trying to get a blanket. Then nobody came for over an hour and then we found a blanket so I tried to call back and tell them not to come but was on hold forever for that too. I agree that for the cost of the room, the service is lacking.
