Has anyone seen the plans for room renovations at the Grand Californian? I keep going back and forth between the Courtyard Theme Park Entrance vs splurging a bit for the Grand Californian for our stay in mid-September 2017. The Grand Californian rooms were a bit underwhelming to me for the price (although I know the location is AMAZING) so I'd be interested to see what they have in store for the refreshed rooms.

There is concept art of the new room design hanging in the hallway in the lobby of the hotel. There are also shadowbox type things that contain samples of the color palette, the new fabrics, floors, carpet, etc. It looks pretty nice but not mind blowing. The actual concept art picture looks kind of dull, to be honest. I hope it looks better in person.

sorry, double post.
Something is slowing down Firefox, so switched to Safari.
(might be unrelated to DIS boards)

Renovations of VGC have been completed, and I have posted pictures to the VGC Superthread :goodvibes
The villa renovations replaced the bed and sofa, otherwise only "soft goods" were replaced (carpet, drapes, cushions...).

The hotel room renovations will be more extensive. Bathroom counters and tile will be replaced, but it's unknown if interior layout (bath and closet walls) will change.

The photo (posted above) shows the current chest of drawers and desk are being replaced by long built-in counter. Rooms with 2 queen beds will also have a daybed. There will be more rooms with king beds, but bunk beds are being eliminated.

Oh Lordy! Can you imagine laundry personnel trying to keep all those white duvet covers white?

I think the room in the rendering looks bigger, but that could just be the perspective.

No you are right...that concept art is bogus compared to reality on room size unless they are shrinking the beds and taking out the bathroom wall!

The duvet/bedspreads have been eliminated. The comforter is wrapped top and bottom with sheets, the top sheet has a pattern (similar to the Napa Rose logo). The exposed top sheet will be laundered, along with all the sheets. (sorry about poor quality photo)

The concept drawing might be "to scale", but the prospective is from inside the closet.
It should have a disclaimer: Closet and bathroom walls removed to show detail

I went to the DVC annual meeting about a week ago and at the end some people asked questions on the Hotel side renovations. I think they talked about taking majority of the tub/shower out and replace with just walk in showers plus providing baby tubs of bathing seats for toddlers for family in need. Only certain suites will still keep bath tubs.

Well this will be terrific. We stopped staying at GCH when my kids got too tall for the bunk beds. We need three beds as I have a teenage son and daughter who cannot get any sleep in the same bed. So the two queens and a daybed option is a must for us, and it's why we switched over to staying at DLH about 6 years ago. Once the GCH renos are done we can consider a return visit.
