Grand Californian ROFR questions

From what I have been researching, I have not seen a lot of information about passing ROFR for the Grand Californian (VGC). I even checked the DISBOARD ROFR thread from Jan 2015 - Sept 2016. Only one person posted passing ROFR back in May 2016.

Is there anyone out there who recently purchased for VGC??? Would you please share at what price point was accepted?

$140 with banked points a couple of months ago . I don't think Disney is buying them back as the direct waitlist is apparently closed.

shaunacb, thank you for the information. I've run into sellers who aren't negotiating...were you able to negotiate?

There were 3 contracts very similar on the market (different brokers) at the same time, all with banked points. I think they were all listed at $150, and I offered $138 (nothing to lose with 3 contracts avail). The first one came down a few dollars and was firm, so I moved on. The second one came down to $146, and I came up to $140 firm. I wouldn't worry too much what it is listed, just offer what you think it is worth. I have another contract with another home resort and I paid list price for that as it was a great deal, so I didn't negotiate.

it depends on the size of your contract, though when we were looking earlier in the year, contracts would drop pretty regularly below $140 pp for a typical contract with full 2016 points , though not necessarily banked points.
We ended up purchasing a contract few months ago for $130 pp with ~2/3 2015 banked points and seller covering MFs, but it was a larger contract thus the lower price. We just made the offer and they accepted.

I don't know if the price has changed since then. I wouldn't worry about ROFR, I don't think Disney is buying VGC right now, so just offer what you think is fair. Some sellers will negotiate, some won't.

I have a contract in right now, I will let you know. My broker said the same thing, Disney is not buying California, just the low priced properties. I would think one of the issues is with what you have to pay for VGC there is not enough profit for them

Wow that is a great deal! I thought I got a good deal, but paid 2016 MF and $10 more than you. Full 2015 points banked though. Congrats!
