For those of you who have stayed at the Grand Californian, were there coffee makers in the standard rooms? (The website doesn't list them under amenities) Also, does it cost extra to request a refrigerator? Thanks! :)

Yep, that's true. The rooms come with both the coffee maker and the fridge. We never drank the coffee (just used it to make a cup of soup! LOL). I just wish they came with microwaves!

Right..coffeemaker and fridge. The fridge used to have the mini bar stuff in there and now it is just a fridge.

Ok--can anyone explain WHY the coffee from the coffeemakers in the Disneyland hotels is so terrible? I've had now from all three and it's just un-drinkable . . . . . . . Other hotel chains don't seem to have this problem . . . . is it a conspiracy to get you to go and buy it at top $$$$$$?

They had Starbucks last time we were there but somehow it doesn't quite taste the same.

I bring my own coffee, coffee maker and water. I agree, the coffee just tastes differently there.

given all the controversy about Mousekeeping using windex to clean the glasses in the rooms, I am wondering if the problem is whatever they use to clean the pots just tastes bad--last time we stayed at GCH the pot the first morning was undrinkable--I didn't even bother the second day but the person I was with did and said it was ok. So that led me to believe that in-between guests they clean those pots with some chemical that leaves behind an aftertaste.

Or we just always seem to arrive on Sundays and they chlorinate the water that day. Just stayed in the DLH and the water tasted bad there too (and the one and only time I used the coffemaker it was awful). Luckily I discovered they have "free" coffee in the lobby of each tower at 6:30 so I went down there.

So maybe you could run a pot of bottled water through first, to clean out the system... then make your coffee with bottled water? Bet that would help a lot. The tap water at the GCH was horrible in March. I didn't even want to rinse my mouth out after brushing my teeth.

I haven't heard about this!! No, really? They are using WINDEX to clean glasses! Oh, now I understand that really, really bad coffee taste at GC.
