Just called MS....Standard Room Grand California Hotel is 32 points for summer 09...Went up 2 points from 08?????The book said 30 points, standard view for 08...Can only book developer points there 7 mos in advance, so will have to wait a bit...

Supposedly a gorgeous resort..Great reviews...Thinking about using Developer Points there next summer.....

Any feedback on GC for those that recently used developer points is always appreciated! Thanks! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I stayed there on points last May. It wasn't Dev. Pts, but I added on while there and received some, does that count? :goodvibes

We love the GC. The hotel is built in the craftsman style and has a gorgeous lobby that will remind you of WL or AKL. The restaurants are great and there is an entrance right in to DCA from the hotel. DL is just a short walk away, or it's a short walk back to the monorail station if you would want to ride that into the park. It's also right in the midst of DTD so there are lots of dining and shopping opportunities.

The rooms themselves are nice and in line with WL or AKL rooms. They are the smallest rooms of the three hotels so if your looking for extra space just be aware of that.

One of the really nice things about DL is that DVC members get discounts at most of the restaurants in the parks, hotels and in DTD.

We have visited the Grand Californian but never stayed there. I love hanging out in the lobby and having breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe.

If there is no availability at the GC for your dates, definitely consider the DLH. The rooms are larger and have lots of Disneyland-specific touches in the decor. We spend 4 nights there in September and had a great time!

We stayed at the Grand Californian this past August using Developer Points. It was 30 points a night. Since the points went up to 32 a night for the summer, did they go down in another season? Does the points chart rule only apply to DVC resorts? Just a word of advice. We have stayed at the Grand Californian many times and always have had to wait until late afternoon to get into our room. We didn't get into our room this past summer until almost 6:00 even though check in is at 3:00. It was very annoying because we had flown in to California from North Carolina with our 18 month old girl and after 7 hours in the air, 1 hour in a shuttle van, and 6 hours in the park, she had nowhere to lay down and take a nap. Needless to say, I complained at the customer service desk and they bought our dinner at Blue Bayou and sent cookies and milk to the room. We were considering doing an add on at the Grand Californian but decided not to do so after having to wait yet again for check in. This has been a problem more than once. I also toured the model rooms and the DVC representative was quite rude during the tour. Looks like I'll just use my SSR points to stay at the GC whenever we decide to return.

They have not yet posted the 2009 point chart for the Disneyland Resorts.

I did find it by playing around with the url. The point chart link to below should be considered 'unofficial' until posted on the member website.

I was bored last night, so I went fishing so to speak.

I also tried to see if I could find 2009 point charts for GCV & The Concierge Collection, buy was unsuccessful.

Right, the rule only applies to DVC resorts.

Are you sure about the 7 month booking window, I made my reservations using Developer points for June 09 in September and I wasn't at the 7 month mark I would call back and try making them again.

Yes, that rule only applies to the DVC resorts. Points for non-DVC resorts at WDW, those at DL, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and exchanges can go up at the discretion of DVC (and usually do from year to year).

I would call back again about the 7 month reserving. I used my developer points for a stay in the DLH in May next year. I can not wait. But I made my reservations as soon as I closed on my AKV contract in September, and this would have been more than 7 months out, in fact it's about 8 months if my math is correct.

we used points to stay there last month and it was wonderful. I can't wait to return!!

We are going to buy in at VGC the very moment they go on sale! (Or at least the day! :woohoo: )

I am dying to know what the point requirements will be. They will be high like BLT I'll bet but at least they can't go up every year like they can with the hotel rooms. Our guide commented that at the very least we can be assured that the points required for a studio won't be any higher than the current points required for a hotel room. I'm still noodling over that one . . .

Is this for the regular rooms? Do we know when the DVC will be opening at this resort?

In every category, GCH points, standard view through Concierge Park or pool view went up for every season!:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

That is pretty typical. Generally the points for non-DVC resorts do go up every year. They directly relate to cash room rates at those properties so you can expect that yearly increase. That's what makes DVC so great...the points will always (generally) stay the same!
