Grand California Hotel

We are staying at the Grand California Hotel in December. I am very excited. I have seen photos and its gorgeous. I requested bunk bed rooms. Does anyone know how many of these rooms are available and are they in high demand? I know they have a dedicated entrance into California Adventure but how do you get to Disneyland if California Adventure is not open. I saw the map but I am just trying to get an idea of how long of a walk it will be. I cant tell where the entrance from the hotel is, into downtown disney.

I also wanted to hear from people who have stayed in this hotel recently. How is it? Any tips for us? Do they heat the pool all year? Anything I should request when we check in? Is it all non-smoking?

The walk from Grand CA to DLR entrance is no worse than walking the length of one Walmart.

Its a beautiful hotel, the pool is glam and heated, and I'm jealous. Have a great trip.

GCH is a beautiful hotel. I recommend you call 3 days before your trip to remind them of your request for bunk beds. I have requested bunk beds in the past however we were unable to get them. I don't think they have too many of them. I was told 3 days before you arrive your room is chosen for you. The pools are heated but they are still cold. We are from Washington so our kids don't mind it they still love to swim during the day. It's a beautiful hotel and you can't beat the location. Yes, all of the rooms are non-smoking.

The monorail station is also pretty close to the GC if you want to go straight to Tomorrowland... Considering how much you'll be walking around the parks, the walk to either the monorail station or the main entrance plaza are nothing!

We stayed there a few weeks ago, beautiful as always. We had to use the DTD entrance several times (since MHT was going on DCA was closed early). It's not bad of a walk at all. But it really depends on where your room is located at. We were lucky and got a room right off of the lobby, and very close to the elevators. So that cut way down on our walking time. We had a view of the front of the hotel (we could see the monorail zip by, parts of DTD, DLH and PP). We've had a park view before there, over looking GRR, so nothing would beat that view. But it was nice.

The first time we stayed there we went with family who got a bunk room. They didn't have any problems getting it. Although I don't know how many rooms have them. We had two queen beds and a day bed in our rooms (we had two rooms).

We stayed there last December and loved it. The Christmas tree is beautiful, and Santa comes to visit in front of it. They have stories by the hearth, and my all time favorite, were the carolers singing in the lobby/lounge. They were dressed in period costumes, and sang accapella. They were so good! I could have listened to them all day.

I tried to get rooms there this December but could only get one night. We will finish up our stay at PP which will be our first time there. I wish I had all of our nights at the Grand.

Bunk beds are a nightmare if you're an adult sleeping on top bunk, felt like I was gonna fall off the ladder while climbing. I'm a small adult so they're not good for tall people. Stayed there for the first time, seemed okay, room wasn't anything fancy but okay. Had a view of the CA park and the CA construction. You'll enjoy it.

My family has stayed at the GC numerous times over the past several years and we have never been able to get a room with bunkbeds. We always request them. My DS and DD are always disappointed. We are going to be checking in next week and once again hoping to get a room with bunkbeds. Don't know how one ends up getting them. Good luck to you!

I just booked this for the weekend....and on the phone the CM told me the only room left was an AP4 rate with 1 Queen and 2 bunk beds! So, hopefully we bunk beds for our weekend trip, Sat-Tues.

We have just a std view, so does that mean we'll be put into a certain section? Is there anything I should request, a certain area, higher floor, lower floor, etc?

What would be the quickest place to grab breakfast before our early entry day? Is there anything there in the hotel, or on the route to the main gates? I know there are things IN the park but we dont want to waste our early entry time eating.

I have heard that Whitewater Snacks (in GCH) is good for breakfast. I don't know how early they're open, but I imagine pretty early. We stopped at La Brea bakery in DTD before early entry one morning. It was tasty but very expensive (but what isn't when it comes to Disneyland)?!

I can't remember the bunkbed number, but it was ridicously low (The numbers 110 and 60 stick in my mind. It may have been 110 for the entire hotel, and 60 in standard room section). We couldn't get them last January and they told us the numbers. They also told us how they prioritized who got them.

1) Many of the bunkbed rooms are connecting, so a party that has connecting rooms and requests bunkbeds stands a chance.

2) Parties of 5 will be prioritzed before parties of 4 (I think the bunkbeds also have a trundle). Otherwise, the 5th person has to use a sleeping bag in a 2queen room.

We had our bunkbed rooms last weekend!! It was GREAT!! We had a standard room with a DTD view, we loved it. White Water Snacks was great for breakfast, they had cereal, muffins, breakfast burritos, french toast sticks, bagels and other pastries, fresh fruit and lots of drinks. We really liked it, the prices were reasonable and we just charged the food to our room.

My daughter is 10 but pretty tall. I think she is 5'3 or 5'4. Will she fit on the bunkbeds? Someone said they are smaller than a regular twin bed. Does anyone know? Of course we have no idea if we'll even get a bunkbed room, but we are hoping for one
